Nesting With Nature

Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

I am a big lover of nature and know I am not alone in that. I love being among the trees and seeing all the colors, smelling the smells and hearing all the little peeps of nature.

I know I use a lot of color combinations and ideas from nature in my works, so that you can have nature with you all the time.

What do you have in your shop that brings nature into your home?

Cindy from Cynhumphrey says I love to bring nature inside! Here is an item from my shop that led me to our woods to find some broken branches. I also used nut shells for the flowers, which is another nature item. Pair these with fake floral flowers and a silk butterfly to give it just a splash of color and you have a beautiful centerpiece!

Nancy from EponasCrystals states we live in the country and always have an abundance of wild life crossing through our yard. My husband puts out sunflower seeds for the birds and we have squirrels, turkeys, deer, possums and raccoons come to eat as well. Here are some flying bird earrings to remind you of “nesting with nature”.

Stock Lane Studio from StockLaneStudio says I captured this photograph during a relaxing and peaceful hike along the Cornish Trail that parallels the Hudson River. Scattered along the trail are old ruins of a once thriving estate. The old well has turned into a home for turtles and frogs. Brick chimneys and stone walls are all that remain of the buildings.

Cristal from DesignsbyCristal said while my allergies sometimes get in the way of my venturing outside during the blooming season I still love the spring flowers! The colors are bright, bold and smell so good! One of my favorite flowers are daisies!

Przemila from CanisArtStudio states in my shop, there are many items that show nature because I paint pet portraits and wildlife animals. But today I chose the miniature painted clock with cardinal songbirds, which will be the original Christmas decoration. In my shop is available a series of painted clocks with different birds. You can also order a custom clock with your favorite bird or pet.

Annie from DesignedbyAnneliese says I also love to be outdoors among the trees and flowers. I recently added these rose cards to my shop. I absolutely love roses, especially their gorgeous scent!

Pam from PamsPawsJewelry said I love nature, natural things, and being outside! For my Etsy shop I enjoy taking photos and incorporating natural items, flowers, rocks, shells, leaves, or just an outdoor backdrop into my item photos!

Sometimes I match the colors or exact flowers as in this handmade necklace photo to what is in my handmade and vintage items.

This necklace is pink rhodochrosite, rose quartz, and the pretty dogwood tree flowers match the sterling silver flower in my necklace design!

Aska from PaintingsGallery states I work from my airy studio from where I can look outside into the distance and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains and sea.I gain inspiration from nature colours & all the beauty in the ever-changing landscape which I want to capture in my canvases and share it with you. The beauty of the Island of Mull is my main subject. The island has been my home since 11 years now and still, there is so much to discover.

Susan and Sharon from MsPDesignsUSA says our quilt patterns are inspired by nature! This nursery quilt features animals who live in the forests and woodlands in Montana, where we grew up. I had such fun making the animals, as they each have a whimsical touch.

Alicia from MemaAntiques said my husband and I love wildlife. We live in an area where you see all sorts of birds and water fowl. It is nothing to see and alligator walking down the sidewalks where we live at.

Elisabeth from LizPOriginals states I love to be in nature and get always inspired with all the colors and textures there. Here is a nature inspired pair of earrings where the frosted leafs remind me of fall and the first frost.

Desert Dabbler from DesertDabbler says I love hiking and being outside. In the summer and fall we go to the Rocky Mountains to escape the desert heat and see the wildlife. Last year we went to Jasper, Canada. one of my favorite places. As we were driving there, we spotted a mother black bear and her 3 cubs. What a treat! I took their picture and was later inspired to make this necklace because of them.

Family Fun

Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

There are so many types of fun things to do as a family. You could go on vacation together, stay home and play games and so much more.

What do you have in your shop that revolves around family fun?

Susan-Sharon from MsPDesignsUSA said family fun! My kids always liked to go to the park to play, maybe with some friends. We’d play ball, skate, have a picnic, go for a swim, and just enjoy spending precious time together.

This quilt pattern features a variety of dogs (who are part of the family!), having fun at the park!

Bibi from hippie2happy says women in my family love to smell good, look good and feel good and that includes their feet. So I created a foot scrub using natural ingredients for dry, parched feet that offers hydration and protection while scrubbing dead cells away. They now are happy with their soft smooth feet and I’m happy knowing my product works. They’re always ordering refills!

Show Us Your Workspace: Mairidesign

Contributor post by Michelle from EviesToolEmporium

Today we visit the workspace of Mairi from mairidesign who sells stained glass home decor and jewellery. Please take a moment to get to know Mairi!

Here’s what Mairi has to say about her workspace:

My workspace is a corner of my living room (I often take over the whole room) and it tends to be pretty messy. I’m using found pieces of furniture and plan to paint them and get a large cube unit for keeping all of my bits and pieces better organised so that I, hopefully, contain it all in the corner.

This year, I’m finally putting real effort into designing and making a go of it through Etsy. I like getting to the photographing stage and listing the final piece ready for the world to find. Whenever someone buys my work, I feel so appreciative that someone, somewhere likes what I do and will enjoy it for years to come.

I’m currently celebrating 30 years since I started working with stained glass. I trained with a local artist then went on to work in a large glazing company. I have since graduated from Glasgow School of Art with a degree in Silversmithing and Jewellery Design, I’ve worked as a graphic designer, a gift shop retail manager and an English teacher. I still teach English, here in Prague, and love being able to travel around this beautiful city taking photos of the stunning architecture.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my story and pics of my little workspace.

Try A Little Leather

Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

Leather can be used in so many ways; clothing, furniture, accessories and so much more. Do you use leather in the items you create?

We want to know what you have that is leather or has a little bit of leather in it. Tell us all about your item. How is it used, who is it for, etc.

Nancy from EponasCrystals says I use a lot of leather in my jewelry. The soft deerskin leather strips are particularly useful for finishing necklaces, like this turquoise necklace. I also like using them in bracelet cuffs.

This is an authentic vintage (made from real leather) accessory to enhance your wardrobe. It is classic piece…unique, retro, one-of-a-kind gem that cannot be found anyplace else.

Judy from JAMsCraftCloset says a leather vintage purse is a perfect accessory to your fall wardrobe. A purse, like shoes, you just can’t get enough of…

Desert Dabbler from DesertDabbler said I love the feel of soft leather and use it a lot to make bracelets. For this one I drew a pattern and cut out a creamy beige leather cuff. I cut a strip of turquoise leather and stitched a turquoise and silver medallion to it. The result is a OOAK leather bracelet that feels as good as it looks.

Richard and Tatiana from DesignstheLimit states at Design’s the Limit, we specialize in design and personalization of wood, glass, crystal, stone, and other materials including leatherette. In addition to being a more moral choice, it has a number of additional advantages to leather and does not crack or fade. Choose any of our designs or submit your own, leatherette engraves clearly and is available in a variety of colors. We have added wallets, business card holders, and luggage tags of leatherette in our shop and have received a great response for our clients. Leatherette requires little maintenance in comparison to leather and does not contain animal products, and is therefore seen as an ethical alternative to leather by vegans and animal rights enthusiasts.

Marijean from MariMartiDesigns says this necklace is a warm pop of happy orange sari silk in tassel form! The handmade tassel hangs from long, supple leather cord as a necklace that can be tied to any length your heart desires! Wonderful and cheerful gift for any teen, wife, or you can even TREAT YO’SELF!

Join us in welcoming new members that joined the Etsy Christmas In July team during August …. visit their Etsy shops, favourite some items and maybe even share some on your social media!

Hi, just joined the team. Thank you for having me!

I am a crochet designer and recently quit my day job to focus on designing. My current favourite item in my shop – and it changes as each new design becomes my favourite! – is this shawl pattern.

I love it because it’s my favourite colour combination of mustard and blue and it’s perfect for this time of year. I’ve been wearing it a lot in the last couple of weeks.

Hi, my name is Natalia.

Here is my hand made earrings freshwater pearls teardrops wire wrapped in gorgeous ornate filigree sterling silver.

Mairi from mairidesign says

Hi, I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s work.

I design stained glass home decor and jewellery and have been preparing my Christmas decorations for the upcoming months.

Here is a set of three flat glass baubles to hang on the festive tree or in the window. I made them as presents for students last Christmas and immediately received another three bulk orders for office gifts and window garlands.

The glass has a really beautiful iridescence.

Welcome New Team Members!
