When you are throwing a party you need so many things to make it a success. You need food, invites and party supplies to name a few. Party supplies can be table decor, banners, props and more.
Sue and Misty from shabbyshopgirls says baby showers can be so much fun when you have a fun crowd and some snappy games to play! We love finding party supplies from the 50’s through the 80’s with their great vintage graphics and mix of games played way back when! Find some vintage party supplies and put your own twist on them for your next get together! Your friends and family will enjoy the mix of vintage and modern!
zizzybob from zizzybob says what’s party decorations without lots of candles? So what’s lots of candles without candle mats under them. I have lots to choose from but this one is especially designed for a party.
Mairi from mairidesign said a little piece of the sea for your beach themed party. These little jars, filled with Mediterranean sea glass and shells, with added metal charms, can be used to decorate your dining tables or be given as favors. Each tiny piece of sea glass was collected from beaches near Barcelona, Spain, and I certainly got lots of exercise with all that bending down to pick them up.
In preparation for the busy seasons of back to school, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, wouldn’t it be nice to stock up on all the little treats that allow us to cope with the stresses of those times? Providing ourselves with moments of relaxation and improving our wellbeing can be very enjoyable when we know that we have already planned for them. Whether you hope to go to a countryside spa or just find an hour, here and there, to pamper yourself, let’s get through the next few months as stress-free as possible.
The Christmas in July team would like to present their items that will help our Relaxation and Wellbeing plans.

Matte Finish is free of shine, resulting in muted tones and colors. There are many paints, stains and such that can be used in making our items.
Przemila from CanisArtStudio says this original oil painting is painted impasto and knife technique. The image surface is matte and traces of the brush and knife are visible. It is a very noble and decorative technique. The coloring of the image is toned down. Green and shades of gray create an atmosphere of peace and rest. This modern painting will be a perfect complement to modern furniture in your living room, office or other representative interiors. The color of the frame can be chosen according to your preferences.
Sue and Misty from shabbyshopgirls said the 1960s and 70’s brought a wave of shiny metal and plastics into the home and workplace. Prior to that, many objects were natural or flat finish painted wood. These charming wooden snack plates from the 1940s were painted in pastel colors and used in the home or taken on fancy picnics. We love the shape and calming color palette of these highly collectible plates!
spoiledfelines1 from SpoiledFelinesArt states all of the items in our shop, whether burned, carved, or painted, are finished using a matte sealant. The reason that we use a matte sealant rather than a glossy one is that we want the focus to be on the natural highs and lows of the wood, and a matte finish achieves that goal. I chose to showcase the hand burned owl plaque to illustrate the beauty of that can be achieved when using matte sealant on natural wood!
Mairi from mairidesign says the Mediterranean Sea finished off this piece of teal green glass to a perfect matte finish. I collected this piece of glass from a beach near Barcelona and chose it to be my first item of jewelry made from my beloved sea glass collection. Did you know that sea glass is also known as Mermaid’s Tears? So beautiful! Click the photo to read more about the legend of Neptune and the Mermaid.
Let’s get healthy with our intake of Fruit and Vegetables!
Well, even if we don’t necessarily consume as much as we should, we can be reminded of these nutritious beauties through their imagery in paintings, kitchen crockery, crocheted toys and such like, and be encouraged to grab an apple instead of a biscuit.
The Christmas in July team have chosen their favourite fruit and veg items for you to decorate your homes.
Fruit on the table is a good topic to decorate the walls in the kitchen or dining room. This is a classic still life painted on 3D canvas. The additional surface on the sides of the image is painted over. This picture is like a little anecdote. I paint on order, so you can choose the image dimensions. or another similar theme.
Eating your fruits and vegetables may be more fun with these colorful paper mache napkin rings at your table place setting! We love the colorful graphics and artistic element represented in each of these different designs – certainly a fun way to add some pizazz to your table decor!
We wanted to celebrate all things modern and trendy, so we asked our team mates what they offer (and love) that fits in that category — even if they were only modern once upon a time. Here’s what they shared.
You can’t get much more modern than cell phones and tablets! This adorable cell phone stylus/charm is a great idea for anyone who has trouble with big fingers and texting!
This train case may not appear to be a “modern marvel”, but back in the day, all traveling ladies carried a train case for their personal items such as cosmetics, hygiene/personal care, and prescriptions. Small enough to hold all essentials for travel and still fit on a small airplane, bus, or train compartment.
Today this train case has made a comeback for use by many types of artists. Makeup artists use these convenient train cases for storing their favorite cosmetics for use in the theater, movie sets, and on site filming locations. Painting artists love these cases for storing all their paint brushes, paint tubes and supplies. Ladies are even using their train cases as a handy storage for “handyman” items such as nails, screws, hammers and screwdrivers! So many clever ideas for such a small piece of luggage!
Steel was something that once we had it … it took us into the future… high rise buildings… bridges and so much more… steel was a wonderful Modern Marvel that took us far into our modern times.
Here is some crafting corners that have the modern look of steel…
I do not think people back in the days had purse charms! So this is my modern marvel!
I make hand made fly bonnets for horses. It started with one for my son and then the unicorns took a flight when I started making them. This is a long model fly bonnet — they are also very popular.
Mood beads were first seen as a modern miracle and popular fad in the late 1970’s and today mood jewelry is as popular as ever.
So, the idea behind mood jewelry is simple: worn on your wrist, neck or finger the changing color of mood beads reflect the state of your emotions. For example darker shades of blue indicates the wearer is calm or relaxed, purple signals happiness and black suggests stress or anxiety. The real deal? The beads change color in response to the body temperature of its wearer.
The bicone (long cone shape) mood bead in this bracelet utilizes the same tech (thermo-sensitive liquid crystal) as the 70’s mood rings. Since this groovy mood bead changes color with the varying temperature of your skin, this “modern miracle” bracelet is a kaleidoscopic of fun.

What do you like to accessorize with, and why? Our teammates shared their favorites with us — and here they are.
I love to accessorize with scarf pendants! They can be worn with any scarf and can really add a little character to an outfit.
Leaf brooches, vintage leaf brooches are what I wear on all my jackets and coats. I’m just so attracted to them. I guess that is why they end up in the Lazy Y. I have so many!
i like to accessorize with very simple pieces that i can sleep in like this piece I made:
Bracelets are my preferred accessory. If you have a bold bracelet and earrings to match, you don’t really need much more!
Easy everyday accessories are light and brightly colored! Like this matching set of earrings and wrist cuff in fabric. Very comfy and casual for a variety of looks.
I love gemstones, smoky quartz is one of my favorites!
I love the trendy long necklaces, and quite often I include two necklaces that layer. My favorite is the quartz crystal ball!
We love to kick up an outfit a notch or two with a bright and vibrant scarf! This vintage scarf by Vera Neumann is sure to be a topic of conversation with it’s bold graphic design and playful color scheme!
I think a pretty necklace and earrings especially accents outfits nicely!
I make jewelry but also love what others make too and vintage jewelry!
It’s great to add a pop of color to an outfit with some wild jewelry!
Nature themed jewelry is fun, modern, chic, Boho, etc. and can be dressed up or down!
Earrings! I don’t feel dressed without them. I first designed these to replace a pair made from wood my daughter bought me about 10 years ago but which had lost their colour.
I love to add a little bling and functionality to my scarfs with these pretty scarf clips. Not only are they pretty they also hold my scarfs in place.
