#CIJPopUpMarket #4 Shop – Tara from BlueWorldTreasures

BlueWorldTreasures

BlueWorldTreasures

1. What is the name of your shop and where do you look for inspiration?

My shop is BlueWorldTreasures and my inspiration is all around me in nature. I am lucky to live beside a large lake in Alberta, Canada and have all of the birds, animals and flowers/plants to give me inspiration.

2. How has your shop evolved over time?

I first started out making jewelry and just giving it away so that I had an excuse to make more! Then my niece suggested I try selling it at the local farmers market and people loved my unique take on jewelry pieces. From there a fellow crafter suggested I try Etsy and I have not looked back. I have been selling on Etsy for 3 years now and every year my shop grows.

3. What do you love most about your work?

I love that I can express my individuality in a piece of jewelry and that someone else will love it as much as I do!

4. What motivating music do you listen to? Share your playlist that gets and keeps you going!

I actually don’t listen to music while working. I live by a lake and have the sounds of nature all around me, birds singing, waves crashing on the beach, wind in the trees around my house – this inspires me as well as soothes me.

5. What book are you reading right now and where is your favorite place to read?

My favourite place to read is right on my front deck, facing the lake. Right now I am reading the 3rd in a series of SF dystopian future books about how our world will look after an EMP event.

#CIJPopUpMarket #4 Shop – Carol from SilverTrove

SilverTrove

SilverTrove

1. What is the name of your shop and where do you look for inspiration?

My shop name is SilverTrove and my inspiration comes from art, nature, architecture and other jewelry artist, past and present.

2. How has your shop evolved over time?

My shop is always changing based on my inspiration, the gemstones I work with and, most of all, the desires of my customers. I have always included premade pieces but most of my work now comes from custom orders, which I love.

3. What do you love most about your work?

I love working with my hands and pouring in a little of my heart to make each piece special and unique. Wire jewelry was my first love, but I’m also a silversmith and I really like combining the two. I also use leather, glass and other materials.

4. What motivating music do you listen to? Share your playlist that gets and keeps you going!

I listen to mostly Christian rock, especially bands like Project 86, Red, Crowder and Decyfer Down. I also listen to other music and my current favorite is Kaleo!

5. What book are you reading right now and where is your favorite place to read?

I read The Bible every day but I’m also reading a book called ‘Translating God’ by Shawn Bolz. I usually read at my computer desk, which is also where I do a lot of the hand work for my jewelry pieces.

#CIJPopUpMarket #4 Shop – Donna from TreasuresFromTheLake

TreasuresFromTheLake

TreasuresFromTheLake

1. What is the name of your shop and where do you look for inspiration?

My name is Donna and my shop is Treasures from the Lake. I make jewelry, bookmarks, and ornaments from beach glass. My inspiration comes from my husband and family. The design of the piece depends sometimes on the size and shape of the glass. Sometimes I get a design in my head and have to figure out how to make it come about.

2. How has your shop evolved over time?

My wire working techniques have improved and have recently been dabbling in some drilling techniques. I am proud to have some regular customers and am constantly looking for new designs to add to the shop.

3. What do you love most about your work?

I love that my work comes from nature. Imagine a bottle, vase, being tossed into the lake. And after decades of the waves tumbling it, it becomes a polished smooth piece that gets left on the shore. Then there is the joy of finding the piece and transforming it into a work of art.

4. What motivating music do you listen to? Share your playlist that gets and keeps you going!

Share your playlist that gets and keeps you going! I don’t usually have music on but that is a great idea.

5. What book are you reading right now and where is your favorite place to read?

My favorite place to read is by the pool and right now am reading Keys to Love. It is a wonderful romance book set in the Florida Keys.

#CIJPopUpMarket #4 Shop – Leah from UniquelyWiredBeads

UniquelyWiredBeads

UniquelyWiredBeads

1. What is the name of your shop and where do you look for inspiration?

My shop is UniquelyWiredBeads and honestly, I think my biggest inspiration for my jewelry is clothes. I have made jewelry for every outfit I have in my closet. I love lots of color, unusual style, and just a different kind of look.

2. How has your shop evolved over time?

Well, I started my little shop with a few plastic bins of beads spread out all over my bed. At the time, I was laid off from my full time job so each day I would get all my beads out and stare at them until I came up with ideas. Each night, I would pack them all up so that we had a place to sleep. Now I am setup with tables and a real work area. It’s not my dream craft room, but I am happy with it for now.

3. What do you love most about your work?

I love it all. I love it from the time I go shopping for unique pieces, to when I get home and begin the creation process, to when I see it published online. But I guess most of all, I absolutely love to see my friends and family wearing my jewelry. That gives me such a sense of accomplishment.

4. What motivating music do you listen to? Share your playlist that gets and keeps you going!

Oh boy, I’m kind of weird when it comes to music. When I am making jewelry, I tend to listen to either Bluegrass, because that reminds me of my dad or my son turned me on to Iron and Wine, which I really like. When I am taking pictures, it is always Red Hot Chili Peppers.

5. What book are you reading right now and where is your favorite place to read?

Wow, I think the last book I read was The Eat-Clean Diet books. Love reading them but can’t seem to follow their lead. I have a ton of jewelry books that I flip through constantly but I can’t say that I read them. If I have a book in hand, it’s usually when I am sitting in bed.

My Shop is called CerenaLevene. I work from my Studio:Studio Make Believe with Walter, our doggie.

The feeling that simple things can make others happy too.

#CIJPopUpMarket #4 Shop – Cindy from Cynhumphrey

Cynhumphrey

Cynhumphrey

1. What is the name of your shop and where do you look for inspiration?

My shop is known as Cynhumphrey. I am drawn to colors in nature photographs when it comes to inspiration for me when creating products.

2. How has your shop evolved over time?

When I first started on Etsy, I was solely creating jewelry. I now include repurposed items as well as home and garden decor.

3. What do you love most about your work?

Most of my products are one-of-a-kind items. I love being able to offer something unique to my customers.

4. What motivating music do you listen to? Share your playlist that gets and keeps you going!

I really don’t have motivational music that I listen to when I’m creating my items. However, I am a firm believer in women maximizing their fullest potential and believing they can do anything they put their mind to doing. If you can dream it, you can do it.

5. What book are you reading right now and where is your favorite place to read?

Working outside of the home at a full time job and running an Etsy shop doesn’t give me a lot of time to read. When I do read, it’s usually informative material on how to improve my shop experience.

#CIJPopUpMarket #4 Shop – Gail from kensingtonminiatures

kensingtonminiatures

1. What is the name of your shop and where do you look for inspiration?

My shop is Kensington Miniatures. I look to real-life in order to create my miniatures… Often I will take photos of things that catch my eye, and I keep a notebook filled with ideas for scenes and items. As a collector since childhood, I have always been fascinated with tiny creations that mirror full-size things.

2. How has your shop evolved over time?

It was my daughter who encouraged me to sell my creations. One Mother’s Day her surprise for me was to set up a shop on Etsy so that I would have a start in business. I added my profile, philosophy, and photos to begin. At first I only listed a few items, but as I continued to gain confidence, I added more miniatures and branched out with more variety of product choices.

3. What do you love most about your work?

I love creating miniatures; it is a passion, not a job for me. It has also offered me an outlet when life hands me challenges. I am happiest listening to show tunes and popular music. Often I will pop in a favorite movie while I am working.

4. What motivating music do you listen to? Share your playlist that gets and keeps you going!

I listen to show tunes and popular music of the 60’s and 70’s. I don’t currently have a specific playlist. The Beatles, the Beach Boys, Carly Simon get me motivated.

5. What book are you reading right now and where is your favorite place to read?

I have many interests-reading being one of them. I read many genres. I just finished a James Patterson novel, but I also love biographies, family histories, and how-to books. Reading in bed is a must before falling off to sleep every night.

6. What are your social media sites?

I am currently on Instagram and love seeing new followers every day, as well as seeing other artists’ work. I find it all so varied and inspirational, and get to make new friends too!

#CIJPopUpMarket #4 Shop – Julie from EveryoneLovesGifts0

EveryoneLovesGifts0

1. What is the name of your shop and where do you look for inspiration?

My shop name is EveryoneLovesGifts0.

As I make jewellery I look for inspiration everywhere, nature is a great one for inspiration with all the colours, textures and designs all around us.

I also love to look around for different beads and charms, when looking I get ideas in my head with what I can do with what.

As I suffer from Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, I like to create different jewellery designs to incorporate the purple look, I make designs on what I think my customer likes.

2. How has your shop evolved over time?

Since I first started on Etsy at the end of 2015 my shop has evolved with the amount of jewellery designs I offer, I believe my photography has got better with time with more improvements available.

I also believe you never stop learning about you and your shop as both always evolve over time.

3. What do you love most about your work?

I love that my customers wear my jewellery and like it. I love everything all about my work even though it is hard work to keep a business moving I enjoy everything about it to stand back and say ‘I did that’.

4. What motivating music do you listen to? Share your playlist that gets and keeps you going!

Not everyone shares my playlist but I do love my dance music, anything that gets you moving to the music really uplifts me and gets my drain going.

5. What book are you reading right now and where is your favorite place to read?

I don’t have a favorite place to read but I do read in bed, in the garden when its nice and in my conservatory surrounded by the outside world.

Right now I am reading a book called ‘Charlie Mike’ that is a true story about veterans linked by tragedy. They come home from their tours wounded. Eric Greitens and Jake Wood wanted to help people even though they have left the military. Fellow soldiers debark to Haiti after the 2011 earthquake or in New York City after Hurricane Sandy.

GusandOllie

1. What is the name of your shop and where do you look for inspiration?

The name of my Etsy shop is: Gus and Ollie.

I am inspired my love of children and the every day. Living abroad means something new around every corner.

2. How has your shop evolved over time?

Not only have my handmade toys become more polished over time, but I think their evolution has been matched by demand and suggestions from many of the friends, family and lovely customers.

Where I saw a need for safe toys for babies – I came up with my Taggy Giraffe, which is now a best seller.

3. What do you love most about your work?

I love that I can go to my studio every day and just disappear into my world of colour, design and creativity. I strive to make a high quality product that is also original, eye catching and full of character.

I love hearing from my customers, who often send me photos of their children with my toys – that they’ve immediately become firm favourites.

4. What motivating music do you listen to? Share your playlist that gets and keeps you going!

My playlists are so eclectic, I think some would find them strange. I love listening on shuffle, so I never know what’s coming next. It ranges from 90’s funk & 60’s rock’n roll, to acoustic jams and movie soundtracks! Anything that gets my foot tapping along.

5. What book are you reading right now and where is your favorite place to read?

I have spent much of this year turning to a healthy lifestyle. I am currently reading “The Miracle Morning” by Hal Elrod, “You Have 4 Minutes to Change Your Life” by Bek Borucki and for my love of books “The Bookshop Book” by Jen Campbell. Bookshops are what I miss most about living in Germany. Bookshops filled with books in german just aren’t the same as the one’s at home.

My favourite places to read are by a window in a cosy cafe, with a perfect coffee and my notebook to take notes & draw ideas.
