Fall Is The Favorite Season Of Carola Bartz from CarolaBartz

CB101104-105615a

 1. What is your favorite season and why?

My favorite season is fall. I love how nature changes and the colorful display I enjoy every day. The light is warmer and not as harsh as in summer. I absolutely love the earthy color palette of fall. The fog returns and it’s not as hot anymore, but the days have lovely temperatures that still allow to walk around without a jacket and in sandals.

2. What season is it now where you live? Have you seen a visible sign of the season changing?

We have summer right now, but already I can see the first yellow, orange and red leaves on some of the Chinese Pistaches. They are usually the first to turn and in October they are spectacular.

3. What item in your shop represents your favorite season and the story behind it?

This journal represents the warm and earthy colors of fall. I personally love to journal and I especially like the smooth paper of composition books. Their sure are other people who share this and with them in mind I created this journal.

4. What seasonal traditions are celebrated in your part of the world?

There are two big celebrations in fall in my part of the world: Halloween and Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year. Here, in wine country, the harvest of the grapes is also very important and often accompanied by small festivals with music, food and, of course, wine.

Russet Orange – Pantone Fashion Color For Fall/Winter 2018

Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

Color trends are a wonderful way to celebrate the seasons!

According to Pantone one of the top colors for Fall 2018 is Russet Orange.

PANTONE #16-1255
Russet Orange
This forest floor orange speaks to earthen warmth.

Members of the Etsy Christmas In July Team have been inspired by the color Russet Orange! They have created items in their shops reflecting this inspiration! Here are a few!

zizzybob from zizzybob says there are very few sellers on Etsy selling handmade quilt blocks. Most of those who are, are selling vintage blocks. I make blocks that I would use if I were making a quilt. Most of mine are appliqued, something that a lot of quilters don’t like to do. Here is a set of blocks just in time for fall.

zizzybob

mistycat from carolinagirlz2 said this russet orange kitty cat would be a fun item to stitch this fall. I love striped tabbies like this beauty!

Gari from BeadLoversKorner states I have very fine, flyaway hair and many times need bobby pins or hair accessories to keep the stray hairs in place. I also have tons of beads – so decided to put some beads on bobby pins! I loved them so much that I started making them to sell. These russet orange bobby pins, made with Carnelian, and perfect for fall colors and Halloween!

BeadLoversKorner

Nancy from EponasCrystals says perfect colors for fall in this lightweight stretchy beaded bracelet. Orange and yellow tones with bright turquoise tassels as accents.

EponasCrystals

Karen from timetalentjewels said these sweet pumpkin beads are a wonderful reminder that fall/autumn is upon us. Russet Oranges, Golds and Browns greet us this fall. Pumpkins, Gourds and Corn-husks along with the fall breezes. Bonfires and Wiener Roasts, oh what fun,we will have!

timetalentjewels

Cristal from DesignsbyCristal states fall is all about seeing the old go into hibernation and waiting for the new to come out in the spring. I love driving up to the mountains in GA and seeing the tree-lined back drop of the amazing colors that fall brings such as the many hues of orange, red, and yellow.

The russet color mixed in with the brown really makes this dog collar pop and is a great add-on for your dogs fall fashion.

DesignsbyCristal

Elisabeth from LizPOriginals says after thinking Fall and wishing for the leaves to change and pumpkin time I designed this cute set today!

LizPOriginals

Patricia from TheOldBarnDoor said there is such a feeling of warmth to this color (and makes me think of apple pie because I use maple syrup) Our maple trees willingly put on a show for us in the early autumn.

TheOldBarnDoor

Roses Workshop from RosesWorkshop states this gorgeous toiletries bag combines a lovely Russet Orange with a paler tangerine in a traditional herringbone pattern. The result is a zingy, eye-catching Harris Tweed fabric that I have used for the outside of this useful washbag.

RosesWorkshop

Margie from Zen Cat Pottery says Wow! The name “Russet Orange” is deceiving. When I go to the Pantone page, it’s really more of what I would call “pumpkin orange.”

This wheel-thrown ceramic spoon rest has a beautiful “Russet Orange” underside that will add a hint of color to your kitchen! This piece is hand painted and hand carved. All materials are non-toxic, food-safe and lead-free. This is also dishwasher safe.

ZenCatPottery

Marie from LoveNStuff14 said my daughter Terese collected vintage hats for years and only recently has decided to thin out her collection. This is one of my favorites

LoveNStuff14

Tami from HannaHerbals states this gorgeous bar of soap is scented with Patchouli, Lavender and Black Pepper, the color is from Paprika. It comes packaged in an adorable kraft jar.

HannaHerbals

Carola Bartz from CarolaBartz says I wouldn’t have called that shade of orange “russet” orange.

Orange always reminds me of the warm and earthen colors of autumn. And of pumpkins. Time spent at the pumpkin patch is one of the most beautiful things I remember doing with my family. Let the kids wear hand knitted pumpkin hats, sit on a big pumpkin surrounded by other pumpkins and you have the perfect photo shoot!

Measuring Up

Blog Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

We think of being good enough or things meeting ones expectations when we think of measuring up to someone or something. For our purposes we want all of our items to measure up to 10 inches tall.

What items do you have in your shop that measure up to 10 inches tall?

Judy from JAMsCraftCloset says two of my passions are vintage items and green glass. With that said, these vintage green glass pasta canisters hit both my passions in one swoop…I had two sets of these canisters and am down to one. therefore, I believe someone else out there has my same two passions. Does anyone else love vintage green glass?

Becky from CottonPickingFolkArt said these are the epitome of summer. When we spend more time outside, it ‘s nice to come have some light, season inspired decor on the inside.I enjoy creating my own patterns, and bringing them to life. I love to eat local strawberries, and with their limited season, these serve as a reminder of summer goodness!

Carola Bartz from CarolaBartz states the red poppies always remind me of my native country Germany. In early summer they seemed to pop up everywhere. There were entire meadows filled with red poppies and blue bachelor buttons. Sometimes it looked like a field of red, green and blue stretching out to the horizon. I loved it so much and I miss this sight!

Solveiga from Knitwoolsocks says I have always enjoyed knitting. I love creating pretty things in beautiful colors. I love to see the item that I am working on begin to take shape and turn into a finished product that someone will enjoy. My socks are knitted with love from the heart and positive thoughts. My goal is to make you smile and bring you Joy.

Mairi from mairidesign said you can make sure you meet all expectations by checking yourself in this classic beauty, with a stylized rose in your choice of colours – purple or pink are clear favourites. Measuring 26.3 x 20.3 cm (10+3/8″ x 8+1/4″), my Glasgow Rose, Mackintosh style mirror is based on the work of the artist, designer and architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, who has inspired many artists from Glasgow, Scotland and beyond.

Sandra from SDDigitalDesign states this 8” x 10” digital print was inspired by all the fond memories I have climbing trees as a child. To me a tree symbolizes balance, strength and growth. I felt as tall and as beautiful as the tree itself. Although I’m not climbing trees these days I will continue to cherish those times when I did. I hope the tree in my design inspires you as it did for me.

Your Favorite Song

Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

Listening, playing or making music is something that usually leads us to making memories. Memories that can remind us of events, people, places and more.

Most of us have a favorite song that we always listen to, but can’t get out of our head!

We want to know what your favorite song is and an item from your shop that relates to the song.

Karen from timetalentjewels says Livin On Love By Alan Jackson – anything country are favorites of mine but Alan any day of the week and this one of my very favorites.

The song relates to two young people just starting out and how in love they are and all that is need is Love. “Livin on Love.” She doesn’t care about what’s in style, she just likes his smile. It takes more than marvel and time living on love.

Living on Love, buying on time, without somebody nothing ain’t worth a dime, It’s like that old fashion storybook rhyme Living on Love, its sounds simple that what you’re thinking; Love can walk through fire without blinking, it doesn’t take much, when you get enough living on love.

Then it goes on about how you grow old and the children are gone and they still sing, side by side, living on love, even though they can’t see and can barely sweep the floor they still walk hand in hand through the door, just living on love.

Somehow I feel that relates to my husband and myself. I can only hope that continues until we grow old. In July it will be 42 years of marriage.

Nancy from EponasCrystals said Crystal by Stevie Nicks is another of my favorite songs. It is from the sound track to Practical Magic, one of my all time favorite movies.
These earrings are made of crystal quartz and make me think of the song Crystal.

Then I knew in the crystalline knowledge of you
Drove me through the mountains
Through the crystal-like and clear water fountain
It drove me like a magnet
To the sea…
To the sea…
To the sea, yeah

Rita from RitzySelection states

Don’t worry about a thing
‘Cause every little thing gonna be alright
Singing’ don’t worry about a thing
‘Cause every little thing gonna be alright
Rise up this mornin’
Smiled with the risin’ sun
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin’ sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true
Saying’, (this is my message to you)

Three Little Birds
Bob Marley

On my pillow, exactly one small bird sings

Przemila from CanisArtStudio says my favorite song is “El condor passa” also known as “If I could” by Simon & Garfunkel. It’s a beautiful melody for flute. In my shop there is a hand-painted flute box with little songbirds.

Hand painted long wooden box

Mairi from mairidesign said my sea-glass black heart still holds a warm, inner green, in the sun light, but only the wearer knows its fragility.

‘Paint it Black’ by the Rolling Stones

“I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door, I must have it painted black
Maybe then I’ll fade away and not have to face the facts
It’s not easy facing up when your whole world is black

No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not foresee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the setting sun

My love will laugh with me before the morning comes

I want to see your face painted black
Black as night, black as coal
See the sun blotted out from the sky”

Rare black sea glass necklace

Carola from CarolaBartz says I have several favorite songs and it is hard to name just one. However, in the end it comes down to “Songbird” by Fleetwood Mac (written by Christine McVie), also sung by Eva Cassidy (both versions are very moving). It is one of the most beautiful, heartfelt love songs I know. Just thinking of it right now (and listening to the melody in my head) gives me goosebumps of the good kind.

For you, there’ll be no more crying.
For you, the sun will be shining.
And I feel that when I’m with you,
It’s alright, I know it’s right.
To you, I’ll give the world.
To you, I’ll never be cold.
‘Cause I feel that when I’m with you,
It’s alright, I know it’s right.
And the songbirds are singing, like they know the score.
And I love you, I love you, I love you, like never before.
And I wish you all the love in the world.
But most of all, I wish it from myself.
And the songbirds keep singing, like they know the score
And I love you, I love you, I love you
Like never before, like never before, like never before.

Bird and butterfly mini journal

Arlene from ThisandThatCrafter states I bought a baby toy that played this for my Granddaughter and when I would babysit her I would sing her to sleep with this song…

You Are My Sunshine…

You are my Sunshine, my only Sunshine
You make me happy when skies are gray
You’ll never know dear how much I Love You
Please don’t take my Sunshine away.

Yellow button set

Silvia from ForCutiesKids says Black coffee (Ooh)
Is my name
Black coffee (Black coffee) is my thing

Black coffee (Ooh)
Freshly ground and fully prepared
Hot black coffee, boy (Black coffee)
Mmh that’s where it’s at

Way back yonder when I don’t know when
See I got hungover before I was ten
You see my skin is white but my soul is black
And a hot black coffee, that’s where it’s at

(Black coffee)
That’s what I’m talking about
(Black coffee)
(Black coffee)
Ooh, you’ve got to feel it in the air
(Black coffee)
(Black coffee)

Will you hear that?
Some black tea
It can’t compare with me
(Can’t compare with me)
Some black tea (Ooh)
Well it’s as good as, it’s as good as
It’s as good as it can be
But it’s a cup of black coffee
That a working man needs to see, yeah

Here in America, where it’s the land of the free
And you can get what you want if you’ve got some do re mi
And I’ve got me a job, and I’m working like a slave
Yeah I’m independent and you know I get laid
Say I got me a man, and I got me a little place
I got a spit of black coffee, and how good it tastes
I said a dime is all it costs in the States
For a cup of black coffee and how good it tastes

(Black coffee)
And alright
(Black coffee)
Oh
(Black coffee)
That’s what I want, that’s what I need
(Black coffee)
Ooh, what I want me
(Black coffee)
That’s what I want, that’s what I need
(Black coffee)
That’s what I’m talking about
That’s what I’m talking about
(Black coffee)
A black coffee
(Black coffee)
A black coffee, child
(Black coffee)
It’s where it’s at, it’s where it’s at
(Black coffee)
It’s where it’s at, what I need
Black coffee
It’s where it’s at, what I need

Blooming Dahlia – Pantone Fashion Color For Spring 2018

Contributor post by Michelle of EviesToolEmporium

Color trends are a wonderful way to celebrate the seasons!

According to Pantone one of the top colors for Spring 2018 is Blooming Dahlia.

PANTONE 15-1520
Blooming Dahlia
With its seemingly suggestive scent, the subtly alluring Blooming Dahlia beckons us with its understated appeal.

Members of the Etsy Christmas In July Team have been inspired by the color Blooming Dahlia! They have created items in their shops reflecting this inspiration! Here are a few!

Carola Bartz from CarolaBartz says:

A few years ago I found beautiful yarn made from Navajo Churro sheep, a blend of wool and Mohair. I knitted owl hats with it for my nieces and they liked them so much that I decided to make them for the shop as well. This yarn is soft and very warm, perfect to keep your head and ears toasty during those chilly windy days.

CarolaBartz

Rita Szöllősi from RitzySelection says:

Spring wind floods water
my darling, my darling
Spring wind floods water
my darling, my darling

Every bird chooses a partner
my darling, my darling
Every bird chooses a partner
my darling, my darling

Well, who should I choose
my darling, my darling?
Well, who should I choose
my darling, my darling?

You choose Me, I choose You
my darling, my darling
You choose Me, I choose You
my darling, my darling

Perhaps this is the most beautiful Hungarian folk song. The beautiful “Blooming dahlia” will open in the garden, like this cushion!

Nancy Duncan from EponasCrystals says:

Rich coral pink silk ribbon with blue and salmon colored beads dangle from gold bead caps. The perfect addition to your boho jewelry collection.

Christmas Decor – #CIJParty 2017

Guest Contributor post by Judith from FabriArts
The Christmas season is my favourite time of year to decorate. I usually start on December 1st and when my kids were small, we had a game to identify which new decoration I placed out each day. Combined with Advent calendars where they could add a decoration each day, the excitement built each day until the big events on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Members of the Etsy Christmas in July team have lots of ideas to help with your holiday decorating. Whether you want handcrafted original items for your tree, your walls, your sofa, shelves or tables, cards, prints or paper goods or vintage finds, the members of the Etsy Christmas in July team have lots for you to choose from. We even have Christmas accessories for your pets! Buy now, and ensure that you’ll have everything ready for that special time of year – no waiting around, hoping that your items will arrive in time!

Here are just a few items available. Visit these Etsy shops to discover more treats in store for your holiday decorating!

These bright, colorful, fun and positive dolls are very similar to small Christmas dwarfs or fairies. Each of them could represent you or a family member! Nice, cute figurines will decorate your Christmas tree and make it unique and cozy! This is especially important if there are children in the house. My family and I have received a lot of positive emotions from the process of working on these dolls, and I hope I can convey the mood to you. The toys are made entirely of natural materials: wood beads, cork, cotton yarn, jute yarn. Those doll faces are decorated using a wood burning tool.

KrugerShop

Donna Schindler from TreasuresFromTheLake says:

These beach glass ornaments will brighten up any Christmas tree. I have an indoor, large palm tree that I put them on and it brings back memories of my Family Florida Christmas’s.

TreasuresFromTheLake

Dawn Whitehand from DeeDeeDeesigns says:

These decorations are beautiful one of a kind Christmas ornaments, and as such are a perfect keepsake for family and friends. They are also great memory gifts for teachers.

DeeDeeDeesigns

Elisabeth Perez from LizPOriginals says:

This year I fell in love with charms and then it was just a small step to design Christmas ornaments with them–rich reds and bright greens with creamy pearls and whimsical charms compliment any tree. Use them on your wreath as well or add charm to your gift bags for the holidays!

LizPOriginals

These Christmas stars are all custom made to order.  They are great for children with unusual names, ideal for toddlers who are just starting to recognize their initials, and can have the year stamped on the back (perhaps for a first Christmas). It’s lovely to be able to make matching decorations for a whole family.

MooseintheMint

spoiledfelines1 from SpoiledFelinesArt says:

I love Christmas decorations, especially handmade ones. The reason that I like “handmade decorations” is because each one is unique … not mass produced … a lot of love and attention to detail goes into making handmade items … and that’s important to me!

SpoiledFelinesArt

Richard and Tatiana from DesignstheLimit says:

Christmas ornaments aren’t the biggest seller in June, but we keep them listed all year long because we Love Christmas! Just when the thoughts of Christmas are so far away, we are thankful for the Etsy CIJ Team bringing Christmas Joy in July (and all year long)!

We engrave our crystal ornaments with any design option we have available, any font in our selection, and accept custom order requests. Christmas ornaments make the best gifts for Baby Showers and Newborns, Newlyweds and Anniversary Gifts, and to Commemorative Any Special Event!

Elena Kulanina from KNOTandLiving says:

These minimalist wooden Christmas decorations were hand painted carefully with love. I’m always inspired by minimalism and these alternative Xmas decorations are just perfect for the modern homes: Scandinavian, Minimalistic, Neutral Pastel interiors.

Diana from joliefemmebydiana says:

This is a fun sock monkey teeny tote! Makes a fun decoration for table or mantel and also makes a great gift! The bright colors and fun little sock monkey with a Santa outfit will make you smile!

joliefemmebydiana

Lia Russo from Ghirlandiamo says:

Every time is possible, I love to craft using natural materials. And I think that so many kinds of nuts and a red bow can very well represent a handmade and unique Christmas decoration!

Carola Bartz from CarolaBartz says:

When I think of Christmas in my childhood I always remember the drives in the evening through the snowy landscape of Germany (my dad was a veterinarian and had to go out to the farms, being it Christmas or not, and I often accompanied him). It was dark, but the car’s headlights would illuminate the snow laden trees at the side of the country roads. Those memories inspired me to make a mini canvas that can be used as an Christmas ornament. I added the moose because the forest is their habitat and it creates a serene atmosphere.

CarolaBartz

Linda from LazyYVintage says:

This Enesco ornament is one of my favorites as it is part of the save the Earth collection and promotes recycling with a elf sitting on top of a recycling bin. At Christmas we do our very best to enjoy the season in a green way by keeping the wrappings to a minimum and making gifts for each other and our love ones.

LazyYVintage

pam colangelo from PearlsVintagebyPam says:

I love Christmas decor. As A child I did not celebrate Christmas nor decorate. I was always a collector. When my daughter was a child I collected music boxes. Sadly most of them broke in storage. I found this Christmas music box at a benefit flea market fair. So I helped others, collected another music box and got an Etsy item to sell.

PearlsVintagebyPam

Lizzy and Boo from LizzysBibsandBobs says:

I have always loved everything Christmas ever since I was a little girl. One of my favourite things are Snowmen – which is funny, since I live in Australia and we celebrate Christmas in the Summer! Over the years I have collected many different Snowmen in many forms, so have decided to share some of my collection with someone else who loves them as much as me! This sweet little fellow would be a wonderful addition to anyone’s Christmas Decor!

LizzysBibsandBobs

willowvalleyvintage from WillowValleyVintage says:

I love finding Christmas items at estate sales! Most of the time they are in fantastic condition and carefully stored. My daughter and I recently found this Sad Elf. He’s not wearing traditional Christmas colors and we thought that made him “unique.”

WillowValleyVintage

Marion Walsh from BlueButterflyCrafts says:

A cute snowman to bring Christmas love and cheer in your home. He will bring a smile to everyone’s face for the holidays

BlueButterflyCrafts

Liz from TheLittleEmptyNest says:

This is one of my miniature dollhouse / fairy garden Christmas decor collections featuring a mini stocking, tree skirt and ornaments. Each of my designs are original and handmade by me with the intent of spreading a bit of the joy and happiness that went into their creation!

TheLittleEmptyNest

Jennie Clark from FromBasementToArt says:

Heirloom was my Pfaltzgraff pattern when I married a looong time ago. Finding these holiday candlestick holders was a joy.

FromBasementToArt

Patricia from TheOldBarnDoor says:

I have found that taking images from my antique postcard collection and turning them into decorative pillow covers a wonderful way to combine two of my favorite things. I tend to favor Christmas decor with an old-style feeling as it brings warm memories flooding back.  Nothing quite like a sleigh ride on a frosty day to fill the air with laughter!

TheOldBarnDoor

Judith Messenger from FabriArts says:

Something I always put up at Christmas time are my Advent calendars. Last year, I had 3 of them on the go at the holiday season. I make quilted Advent calendars, which can be used year after year. They all have little pockets that can be filled with treats, toys, messages or small gifts that can be treasured each day in December to count down to Christmas. This modern design is one of my favorites!

FabriArts

Cristal Hughes from DesignsbyCristal says:

I love Christmas anything! My friends call me Cristal Christmas! For me it’s not about the gifts under the tree it’s about what’s on the tree and all the loving festivities that come with the holiday. At my house I have something Christmas related in every room so this got me to thinking why not create some Christmas decor for pets. I’m sure there are some lovers of Christmas out there just like me! If I could afford it I’d let all my Christmas decor stay up all year long.

DesignsbyCristal

Dawn Whitehand from DeeDeeSupplies says:

These large gold flickering sequins are ideal for adding your own flair to your Christmas decor … glittery and shiny they dd sparkle and pizzazz to Christmas wreaths, bunting, cards and any Christmas craft you may have in mind!

DeeDeeSupplies

Christine from cwagenblass9 says:

I think receiving a handmade Christmas card shows that the sender has put a little more care into his card giving. Each card is cutout and hand assembled. Red foil is used on the ornament background.

cwagenblass9

Valerie from Samanthasunshineshop says:

This photo is of my Christmas Tree decorated with my grandmother’s vintage ornaments. The ornaments were handed down to me. They are from the 1940’s and 1950’s. Being able to decorate my tree with these family ornaments, makes it feel like everyone is still together and brings back great memories of Christmas past. In processing the photo, I added a “vintage feel” to accent the ornaments.
