Spring Palette: Colors Of Spring

Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

It’s a time people around the globe hold their breath for – in anticipation of the fresh arrival -…… ahhhhh – wonderful beautiful Spring Time., new beginnings, babies being born.. it’s great! And the blooms everywhere are breath taking in central California where we live, the wildflowers and yards all colorful and inviting.

Springtime colors are fantastic – What springtime story do you have to tell, what glorious spring time palette items do you have to share? We want to hear and see them!

Nancy from jaysboutiquecrochet says

Spring is one of my favorite seasons because of its lovely color scheme! Most of my favorite (and best-selling!) products feature a spring color palette, such as these baby slouch boots. Because I knew these would be worn as the weather starts warming up, I made the shaft a bit shorter and the colors a bit brighter and lighter! No better baby shower or new mom gift, am I right?

I absolutely love spring – so much so that I got married in spring and just had a spring baby! The colours around this time of year are so pretty from bold and vibrant colours, to more subtle and delicate hues – it’s all so inspiring for my knits! My absolute favourite tree comes into bloom this season too – the Cherry Blossom. It’s beautiful pink shades were the colour inspiration for this lovely and long, pure wool chunky knit scarf, which is handy because if your springtime is anything like ours here in the UK, you may still need some woolly warmers handy!

We are getting some rain – those lovely April showers that bring May flowers! This is one of my newer paper packs, and I love the colors and the polka dots. I think they would be good for making spring birthday cards, or Easter egg hunt scrapbooking pages.

Cindy Humphrey from Cynhumphrey says

My favorite time of the year is spring. I love to see the colorful flowers popping out and watch the trees become their vibrant green again. Spring washes away the dark winter colors and brings a fresh new palette that one can’t help but fall in love with and feel a sense of revival. The spring weather also is something I enjoy if it doesn’t bring endless days of rain. It seems warmer than winter but cooler than summer. It’s like a paradise I can get lost in.

Beaded Wine Glass Charms

Karen Hafel from timetalentjewels says

Everyone just loves spring because of the beauty you see each day and yes I must agree it is a beautiful time of year, but it is also a destructive time too. What I enjoy about spring is all the beautiful colors I see each day around my home. This evening while I was out watering the azaleas I managed to enjoy the whiff that I got of the lily of the valley or could it of been the lilacs that were in bloom too? So many beautiful bushes are blooming earlier than expected this year, just like some of the peonies. All their colors are represented in my multi-strand necklace. It is made up of seed beads with a variety of small beads. This necklace can be worn draped or twisted and yes, let the compliments begin.

I love spring , when the garden season begin. The fresh colors of the tulips, narcissus and hyacinth.
A few years ago I created a vegetable garden. I can not wait to plant the vegetables which I have grown in the house from seeds into the garden.

Spring is the time when I can paint flowers. I paint flowers by nature, not from photographs and I’m waiting all year for it. Now so lush everything is blooming and daylight is best for painting. I use natural daylight so colors are so real and juicy. I make a lot of quick sketches on specially primed paper and also paint large flower arrangements on canvas. Flowers are so inspirational!

It’s Autumn all the way down here (Australia!), but it’s so nice to see the beautiful Spring colours and flowers you’re all sharing.
Przemila – how nice that you paint your flowers from nature – knowing that makes them even more lovely!
This turquoise glaze always reminds me of a fresh morning in Spring. It always brightens my day to wear such a happy colour.

Eco Friendly Ideas

Contributor post by Julie from EveryoneLovesGifts0

Here at CIJ we wanted to know what Eco Friendly Ideas you have and share with others.

I would like to know what do you do for the economy? Do you have any eco-friendly idea to share? This can be if you recycle around the home? This could be something you do to help the environment, anything that you do that consists with Eco Friendly Ideas.

Lia Russo from Ghirlandamo says; My one-of-a-kind ring holder is eco-friendly and really suggested for a rustic wedding. It will for sure be amazing for a bride who is organizing a green wedding and loves eco-friendly accessories. Almost all the ring pillow components are natural. The basis is a nice birch slice, covered by real moss, decorated with a bunch of micro white flowers.

Pam Colangelo from PearlsVintagebyPam says; It sure is ecofriendly not to use electricity to make coffee. When camping make coffee over an open fire. You can even do it at home on your fire pit in the back yard. Here’s my great enamel coffee pot with all the implements.

Enamel Coffee Pot Blue Speckled Pot

Dawn Whitehand from DeeDeeDeesigns says; As a ceramic artist I do use a lot of water, electricity and gas. So I try to offset my carbon footprint in other areas such as growing my own food, recycling waste, and reusing rather than disposing as much as possible. In my shop most of my products are ceramic, but I also have a range of jewellery made from upcycled materials created from a range of materials such as buttons, beads and fabric. I also make jewellery from up-cycled guitar strings. My partner plays guitar and is frequently changing the strings and they are such a shame to throw away, so I make jewellery from them – earrings, necklaces and bracelets!

Guitar String Ring Eco Friendly

Arlene from ThisandThatCrafter says; I make “Eco Friendly” gift tags… These save me money because I do not have to buy gift tags… I just make them from old cards OR the cardboard backing in a package that would just be thrown away I use in tags. These are great for anyone who wants to buy Up Cycled or Eco Friendly because they are made of things that would normally be put in the trash. I am reusing sources instead of buying new.

Mom Gift Tag Sets

Linda from LazyYVintage says; I remember when they village started to offer recycling bins. The whole family was excited and thankful to stop throwing away things into a landfill. It made us feel useful and definitely was one thing you could do that would lower your carbon footprint on the earth. From that started a love a nature and natural areas. We volunteer in the fall to pick prairie seed, spring Jim loves to go on a good prescribed burn as a volunteer. I’ve written grants that have helped local communities and environmental groups restore, repair, and purchase prairie lands (as well as wetlands with endangered species located there). Our hobby is hiking and we try to hit as many natural areas, state and national state parks as we can. With all that, vintage is a great way to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Our home is full furniture that I have refinished or am reusing. With that said, my favorite color is green. So this vintage dinnerware set really appeals to me, and is a our pleasure to be able to save it and pass it on.

Design your Stemless Wine Flutes

Prezemila K from CanisArtStudio says; I am also concerned about the planet. Recently in my country legislation has been enacted permitting the destruction of trees. Many people protested and we signed petitions to stop it. In my paintings and drawings I’m immortalize animals and plants by nature. Sometimes my work is the creation of documentation or reconstruct the image of animals or plants which no longer exist. I have designed and produced painted clocks made of wooden waste materials. These pieces of wood were intended to be burned. So my clocks are made of recycled materials. I want to share my passion and love for nature.

Sherri from ButterflyFeetDigital says; A lot of my inspiration comes from seeing color combinations while watching TV or leafing through a magazine. Sometimes a new color combination will stick in my head and I will start to see it more – in a commercial even, on the new! I don’t remember exactly where I first saw this color combo but I began to see it more and more, so I had to make a new paper pack.

Japanese Gift Tags

Dorota from YORNAMENTS says; My garden is my inspiration. It is not huge but it is VERY full. It is full of trees, evergreen shrubs, perennial plants, tall grasses and colorful flowers. The garden is full of rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels and of course birds. They are my favorite, as they sing beautifully and visit me often on my patio. I keep watching these birds from my kitchen window, while I wash the dishes. It is truly better then TV for me. It makes me really happy creating imaginary birds. I love when they come to life in my hands. I have so many bird ornament plans to create for my shop. Here is just the beginning – Birds Gift for Her`

Ornaments Woodland Christmas Decorations

Przemila K from CanisArtStudio says; Inspiration is very important to me. I’m a painter and a great lover of animals and nature. I have two beautiful English Setters and daily I walk with my dogs in the meadows. Sometimes I meet wild animals and it is a wonderful experience. I also love to ride a horse. Horses are my great love and that is why they are important for my creativity. Every day I bring to my house a new bouquet of wild flowers that I then sketch or paint on canvas. I also love watching how my dogs play. I have many friends who have dogs and sometimes I go to the dog shows to meet them and share our passion. It inspired me to paint their portraits and capture our pets. We would love to have them always with us …
