It’s All In Black and White – so perfectly opposite. As a monochrome form of visual arts, B&W images can be starkly contrasted black and white or combine black and white in a continuum producing a range of shades of grey called greyscale. The CIJ Team are delighted to share their B&W and Greyscale works of art, home decor and accessories.
Graphite pencil drawings. I usually present here my portraits of animals, but today I have something very special. Original illustrations that were presented in my exhibition of fairy tale illustrations. Drawings are framed in a beautiful wooden frame and passepartout. I attach a catalog from the exhibition to the purchased drawing.
I was originally commissioned to create this tea cosy as a thank you gift as they had a beautiful black and white kitchen, I added the pom poms as an extra special detail.
Here is one of my many Classic Black and White gift tag sets. The Butterfly set is one of my favorites.
I think these black and white hand painted by ME stemware glasses are so much fun…a great addition to anyone’s bar decor or saved for a special occasion. Here’s to YOU!
I love the graphic appeal of black and white! This clutch is fun and easy to carry! In a cotton print that I call foam and bubble with white background and black dots. It’s a nice little clutch for necessities on the go. Padded and with a wrap around strap that can go on a belt or slip over your wrist.
I love working with black color. The contrast on a white background is fantastic. Simple yet effective. This stippled phalaenopsis is delicate and will fit in perfectly in any home design.
This stylish cushion cover set will complete your black and white home interior design. Elephant cushion covers are made from black and white pattern cotton fabrics. One of them has black and white animal print, the other is made from black and white pattern cotton fabric blocks and has a white cotton block in a middle with beautiful oriental elephant embroidery.
This black and white chalkboard print fabric with words describing God was the perfect fit for my Bible tote bag. The fabric is so beautiful and a great conversation starter as it will have old and new Christians either asking questions or being reminded of the many names our God can be called by.
I think I created this because I think black is elegant and chic – and I didn’t really have anything in my shop with that precise touch of class.
What’s black and white and fabulous?
My love of film noir surfaced once again with these black and white curvaceous earrings. These uniquely shaped hoops are vintage black aluminum stamped with a snake skin pattern. The center cut out has an equally unusual shape. Inside each cut out is a gorgeous round white dangling freshwater pearl.
This black and white infinity scarf is ideal for the summer. The scarf is made of two fabrics. One side is white with little black Polka dots, the other side is black, embroidered with flowers and embellished with flowers in different black and white patterns.
Crochet yoga socks, yin yang gift. According to Taoist principles, the forces of everything in the universe are in constant motion. As the movement continues, each of the forces of energy gradually changes into the other, yin to yang and yang to yin. This is the cycle of all energy. When these opposite energies work in unison the way nature dictates, there is a perfect balance. The yin yang symbol of equal halves, one dark and one light, but also opposing forces come together to create and generate energy – life. Yin creates the form and grows it while the yang generates action energy and expands it. This is the bringing together of two halves to make a complete whole.

Whether this disguise is used to conceal ones presence in the greenery or purely to make a fashion statement, we can all agree that camouflage is here to stay. It’s so versatile that it’s suitable for accessories for both sexes and for all ages as well as for home furnishings. Take walk through our hidden treasures and click on the photos to buy in Etsy.
Once upon a time …… there was once a couple of beautiful cushions. Time passed over and worn, they were old. But hipp-hopp charmed the cushions of the good fairy and new cushions were given to the old pillows. This is my camouflage story!
Sleep well, on your beautiful new cushion covers, dear children!
Animals are masters of camouflage. I was fascinated by patterns and colors of lizards and snakes. A large pastel drawing depicting protected European reptiles and amphibians for those who are passionate about these unusual animals.
My shop features camouflage jackets, cargo pants and sometimes bags. Each item is collected from estate sales from retired military families. They make a wonderful fashion statement or gifts for friends who have had dear love ones serve.
My favorite story was from a man who bought a WW1 camouflage medical bag for his wife as a Christmas gift. Her father had served and passed away when she was a child. He wanted to buy her something with meaning and to remind her of her father. This story brought me to tears and made me so thankful that the items we do sell can make such a big impact on someone else’s life.
I have always been fascinated with most, but not all Camouflage Patterns. I was approached by a customer who asked if I could make a camouflage Fine Pen Box for a veteran, loved the final result! So I decided to add this as a regular item.
I didn’t actually think of camouflage when I created this set – but I’ve often thought that’s how the colors turned out. I just liked the yellow, green and brown combination, so it’s been lurking about in my shop ever since.
A personal favorite from my Etsy shop. Girls love camo too! Celebrate with camo ! Made with love for my niece.
I had been making a lot of original art and it reminded me of an abstract camouflage. Since I work in multiple mediums like original paintings, digital art on blankets and hand painted shoes, I thought it made sense to make some camo military themed shoes. I am also influenced because in NC we have several military bases like marines Camp LaJeune and Fort Bragg which is an Army base. This is a traditional army camo (and by the way, apparently the top selling camouflage is Mossy Oak for hunters…) so I decided to put their motto on the shoe. As I have done this I realize I have stirred so many political questions. I am sure my Army clientele will love these shoes, but I think so will anyone wanting to make a political statement and spark a dialogue when there is none.
This went over so well that I received more requests for camouflage themed greeting cards. So my camouflage collection was born. I now offer birthday, baby, wedding, anniversary and Christmas cards with a camouflage theme. This also includes pink camo for the ladies!
Tell us about yourself.
My name is Adele. I am a stay at home mom with four little kids. We used to live in California but relocated in 2015. We currently are serving in a missionary school in Taiwan. We enjoy our new chapter here. There is so much to explore and learn from.
When did you open your business and what made you decide to do so?
Everything started when I had my first baby. I was a social worker before being a wife and mom. When I got married and soon got pregnant with my firstborn, I know I had to stay at home. I want to spend every moment with her. That’s my best investment! So I put my professional career aside and picked up my crafty tools.
After my first baby was born, I felt I had endless ideas! I felt like I want to hand make everything I can for her. That’s about the time I knew about ETSY. In 2011, I opened my first shop!
Tell us a bit about your products.
Originally I only sold kids related items, such as baby hats, hooded cowl, and etc. with some canvas panel works in between. But mostly, they are all kids related items. Then, I got a chance to design some cast iron pot knob covers for my friend. So you can see some of that in my shop too. Until recently, I started to make aroma stone. I like things that smell well. So when I first learned about aroma stones, I just had to try. Now in my shop, you can see aromatherapy home decors, jewelry, car vent diffusers and even wedding favors and place card holders. I am very excited about my new work.
What inspires your work?
I would definitely say, my kids! Just by watching them grow, gave me tons of ideas. I just don’t have enough time to make all of my ideas come to life. Etsy is a way to share my creations with people.
What are your future goals for the business this year? What is your dream for this business?
Moving overseas is definitely a big challenge for my Etsy business. My shop has been very slow since we moved to Taiwan. Many potential buyers would show their interests at first, but decided not to purchase due to the shipping time and many other reasons. This year I am hoping I can win back some people by listing some “ready to ship” items.
What makes your business stand out from businesses that sell similar products?
I design all my products. From yarn to plaster, from hats to home decor, I made the designs my own. Therefore you can’t find anything like this in other shops. Also, the time I spent in each product and the detail-oriented work is definitely not something you can find anywhere.
Tell us a bit about your work space. Do you have a separate studio?
I do and I don’t. I have storage with all my craft supplies in my laundry room. But I do most of the work at my dining table.
What have you learned since opening your business that you wish you had known before hand?
I had no knowledge of marketing. I remember before I opened my shop, I thought I just have to keep knitting and that is enough. I didn’t know that making my shop seen is even more important! Even now I am still learning how to promote myself via social media. I am definitely not born to be a business woman.
Any advice for those thinking about selling on Etsy?
Do not be discouraged at first. Build up your inventory and accumulate your ideas and experience. Also observe other Etsy shops, and try to find your own style and pace.
When you’re not working, what do you like to do to unwind and have fun? Do you have any hobbies?
I love to sing, more specifically, harmony. So I would pick up any song and start to harmonize with it. I can sing almost any part. I love doing that.
What is your favorite quote?
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Where can people find out more about your business?
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Do not limit yourself. But also do not be too confident with everything either. Know your inner self, know your limitations, and keep strengthening it. And remember no matter what the result is, keep your eyes on the one above. He will guide you and lead you.

The Etsy CIJ team is full of vintage and retro treasures. From Art Deco mirrors and vintage recipe boxes to finely preserved antique music programs. Adorn bright retro dresses with brooches and pendants that brings us back to the ‘good ol’ days’ or evoke cherished memories.
Brooches were once popular items of jewellery to enhance an outfit. As with all things they seem to be making a resurgence, My timber brooches are made from offcuts of rare and beautiful timbers. These will last for eons. The finding is screwed, not glued to the timber and I use findings of the highest quality that I can find. Truely a beautiful thing that takes you back to a time gone by.

I am fascinated by trends. Are you? There are weather trends, work place trends, business trends, job trends, food trends, real estate trends, hair trends, fashion trends color trends and so on.
The definition of a trend is a general direction in which something is developing or changing. In college I took several classes on trends. I remember distinctly studying pre peak – peak – post peak timelines. I find trends intriguing. They pique my curiosity.
Trends unite us. Give us a common ground. A connecting point.
The trends are: are Home Decor (Wabi – Sabi), Jewelry (Choker Revamp, Mix-And-Match Earrings), Weddings (Jumpsuits) and Hot Hue (Ultra Violet). Here are a few trend inspired items from members of the Etsy Christmas In July team.
Monochrome + mother of pearl + brass wire-wrap = a pair of fashion forward and special handmade earrings.
I enjoy making wire wrapped earrings, and have been experimenting using this particular herring bone wrap with non-round beads. I chose these teardrop mother of pearl beads for their luster and decided it would be interesting and very modern to have one side white and the other black. Wire wrap can be associated with fanciful and heady designs but I find these wonderfully simple and yet bold.
I’ve been thought earrings should be exact same pair. But not anymore! I love to design asymmetrical jewelry. It gives you sassy look!
This Amethyst is a beautiful deep violet shade. This would make a lovely gift for some one special.
I set this natural Amethyst 8 x 6 mm oval gem, into a back set pendant setting, I choose to hang it on a diamond curb chain to complement the shape of the oval Amethyst. I have threaded the chain through the pendant setting so it hangs and slides along the chain.
I love creating home and garden decor items with colorful beads. This hanging pendant features bright shades of blue and purple and a fun moon and stars theme in ultra violet!
Hot Hues…Ultra Violet…Yes! I have the perfect hand-painted serving plate for this…It seemed to be the perfect plate for painting using one of my favorite colors. Ultra violet and yellow are such ‘happy’ colors, so I now have a ‘happy’ plate!
