Cozy Accessories

Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

Accessories are items that you can add to a wardrobe or to a room. During fall and winter, I tend to think of cozy items to add to my wardrobe.

What cozy accessories do you have for your wardrobe or household? Please tell us all about your item, how it can be used and so forth.

Judy from JAMsCraftCloset states there is nothing cozier than a hand knitted pair of socks made just for you from someone that loves and cares about you.

Knitting patterns for socks

Karen from timetalentjewels said everyone is looking for that nice warm scarf in the winter time and here is the one that will do it! Very stylish and yet warm! Beautiful colors too!

Women’s ruffled scarf

Cindy from Cynhumphrey states when you hear the word accessory, do you automatically think of jewelry or something to add to clothing? You can now change that!

There is nothing more cozy in the fall and winter months than either sitting by a crackling fire in a fire place or having a dim candle burning in a room. In fact, candles can be used all year long! Think about those candle light dinner dates for example! This adorable leopard print heart shaped candle accessory is a necklace specifically designed to fit around a large jar candle. It’s an easy way to make those romantic moments even more memorable!

Candle embellishment

Michael from BurntEarthHorseHair says when I hear accessory around Christmas time I think of ceramic clay luminary bags, horsehair fired that can be used for many purposes. You can put a candle in them, Original purpose, to light the way on Xmas eve, an office desk gift to put on a desk for pens, or with a larger bag in the kitchen to hold utensils or K-cups.

Luminaria clay bags or holders

Ilda from lililapt said there’s nothing like a set of soft, cozy and unique crosstitch bath towels, made of cotton and use them after a deserved hot shower.

That´s the best way to finish your hard and long working day!

Crosstitched bath towel set

Evgeniia from SecretStoneLab states cozy Crystal Mobile from natural wood and genuine gemstone -so warming & healing for house and soul!

Crystal and feather bohemian mobile

Tanya from socksandmittens says we knit these mittens with festive Christmas cheers in mind. They are warm, cozy and red! A perfect gift for a friend or co-worker! 100% merino wool.

100% merino wool knit mitts

Astrid from RedNeedleQuilts said to me, cozy household accessories mean a warm and cozy snuggle quilt. Snuggle up on the couch to keep warm while watching TV, listening to your favorite music, reading a book etc. This quilt is backed with soft flannel. It can also be used as a couch/sofa throw or wall hanging.

Christmas Lap Quilt

Barbara from MermaidsHatbox states always looking for good fabrics I’ve found a fleece fabric, that is extremely soft and cuddly, and ideal for my winter accessories.

One layer of this scarf is a blue sweatshirt with bright stylized reindeer antlers, the second layer is this super soft and warm natural white fleece fabric. The warm and cozy companion, in the cold season.

Infinity scarf cowl

Marijean from MariMartiDesigns says being in southern Florida, we can’t get too terribly cozy with out winter attire, but I originally grew up in Texas, where we had a winter to speak of and could pull out our boots, sweaters, and scarves every year much to my excitement! To continue that warm and cozy trend and style in a new climate to me, I decided to go with sari silk (warm but very breathable) and an arm knitting method of production to give that cozy knitted texture with lots of air to keep cooler if needed. This scarf necklace is perfect for warm or cold climates. The silk and airy arm knit structure allow for both breeziness and trapping in warmth.

2017 Holiday Trends On Etsy

Contributor post by Michelle of EviesToolEmporium

I am fascinated by trends. Are you? There are weather trends, work place trends, business trends, job trends, food trends, real estate trends, hair trends, fashion trends color trends and so on.

The definition of a trend is a general direction in which something is developing or changing. In college I took several classes on trends. I remember distinctly studying pre peak, peak, and post peak timelines. I find trends intriguing. They pique my curiosity.

Trends unite us. Give us a common ground. A connecting point.

This article is inspired by the 2017 Holiday Merchandising Guide article on the Etsy blog.

2017 Holiday Trends On Etsy are: All The Greetings, Greenery, Modern Farmhouse, A Fragrant Season, Pawsitively Great, Gingerbread Everything, Win The Gift Exchange, Naughty Is The New Nice, Just For Them, and Moody Hues (Nordic Snowfall and Deep Jewels).

All The Greetings

Patricia from TheOldBarnDoor says:

I actually have a Merry Merry Everything Christmas Card featuring a rather dashing gargoyle.

TheOldBarnDoor

Greenery

Mairi from mairidesign says:

I created the above design after I had been using beads, made here in the Czech Republic, with my glass jewellery and knew that they would enhance a stylised evergreen tree. I had sketched several Christmas themed ornaments in this simple, swish-curve style and chose the perfect green and iridescent glass for my final design. Topping it off with a glass crystal is, simply, the cherry on the cake – or rather the diamond on the tree.

A Fragrant Season

Tanya from socksandmittens says:

I wrote this Holiday potpourri Ball DIY post on my blog a while ago and it fits the 2017 holiday trend theme “A Fragrant Season”! It is a very easy and enjoyable project.

Pawsitively Great

Nicole Bridge from MamasHookin says:

Your puppy’s on the nice list! (Was there ever any doubt?) Make sure Santa Paws has someplace to leave the treats and toys on the big day for your furry friend. This Christmas stocking was made just for dogs (although, dog lovers can also enjoy it)!

MamasHookin

Gingerbread Everything

Lia Russo from Ghirlandiamo says:

For the holidays l created two small wreaths dedicated to children, because they are decorated with clay family members (crafted by me), shaped as ginger bread. But not only for children: l thought this decor could also be a fun way to announce a new baby is arriving. I have two of these decors: with one and two kids. I hope this item will work also in this way, not only as Christmas decor.

Win The Gift Exchange

Emily Tan from QuirkyEleganceEm says:

A bead embroidered seashell pin is the last thing anyone would expect to find in a gift exchange, and in a very good way at that! Perfect for someone who really wishes it were summer and can’t wait for the sunny weather to come around again.

QuirkyEleganceEm

Tanya from socksandmittens says:

Win the gift exchange with this handmade crochet bath pouf! Great idea for stocking stuffer, too

socksandmittens

Connie Lee from Bungalow42 says:

Did you draw names for holiday gifts? Did you draw the hip retro/mod one in your gift exchange group? We’ve got you covered! No worries about sizing. No worries about duplicate gifts.

The wasabi, dark teal and avocado three petal flowers engender a mod retro vibe in these dangle earrings. The hand knotted flowers sway softly on the waxed linen thread creating a floating effect, particularly fun against a backdrop of tresses.

Naughty Is The New Nice

Cindy Humphrey from Cynhumphrey says:

Show the world you know how to be “naughty” in a nice way by taking a step back in retro time with this sexy cartoon pin up girl scarf pendant! Perfect way to warm up those cold winter days… or evenings!

Cynhumphrey

Solveiga from Knitwoolsocks says:

Cheer up your cozy evenings at home with these fun socks made to look like Santa’s socks.

Knitwoolsocks

Stock Lane Studio from StockLaneStudio says:

Of course SLS has a Christmas card for the ‘naughty’ one on your list. This card is funny without stepping too far over the line and makes a great card for a husband or wife. As an interactive card, the mirror inside always gets a fun reaction and it’s one of our biggest hits at holiday craft fairs. Merry Christmas everyone!

StockLaneStudio

Loranesss from TurquoiseNature says:

My extremely Naughty Santa! He lives in Ukraine now but he can leave me anytime and go to another county soon!

TurquoiseNature

Just For Them

Richard and Tatiana from DesignstheLimit says:

Did someone say Monogram! We specialize in creating personalized gifts for every occasion and monogrammed gifts make the perfect touch to any celebration. We are ready for the holidays and hope you make every gift giving opportunity into a personalized gift giving experience.

Moody Hues (Nordic Snowfall and Deep Jewels)

Nancy Duncan from EponasCrystals says:

These jeweled scarves are done in jewel tones of red, purple, green and blue.

Emily Tan from QuirkyEleganceEm says:

These handmade earrings feature gorgeous sapphire blue vintage lamp work beads set off by sparkling silver accents. The spider-web lace like detail on these glass cage beads remind me a bit of frost, and the colour simply takes my breath away!

Linda B. from lindab142 says:

This deep jewels bracelet combines metallic blue with silver and a white tassel to top it off.

Homemade Goodness For The Season

Contributor Post by Sheila and Shannon of BeadyEyedBird

If you’re like me, now is the time of year you get that irresistible urge to buy, make (and eat) special treats not common at other times of the year. For me, it’s Christmas cookies and candies, ‘comfort soups’, fancy pastries and pies….well, you get the idea.

What are your treasured homemade treats of the holiday season? Our teamies shared some of their favorites and also some items from their shops related to holiday baking, cooking, candy-making, or eating!!

Melissa R from missy69 said:
My Grandma used to make the best Magic Cookie Bars, and they are still my favorite She made something called Jumbo cookies too, but I can not find a proper recipe anywhere for them. The recipe for Magic Cookie Bars, is www.eaglebrand.com/recipe-detail/magiccookiebars-3934 here. Of course you will need a giving plate to give them to friends and family. I am glad to help you there.

Tanya from socksandmittens said:

My friend gave me this recipe several years ago. These are simple hazelnut butter cookies but they taste so good. We bake them every Christmas since then.

Here is a recipe or if you’d like to see the full version with photographs please visit my blog socksandmittens.blogspot.com/2012/12/christmas-butter-cookies.html

Hazelnut butter cookies:

Ingredients:
1 cup butter at room temperature
1/2 cup sugar
2 tea-spoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped hazelnuts
Powdered sugar for dusting

Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla, flour and salt. Fold in nuts. Knead a dough to make it smooth. Place the dough ball in refrigerator for 2 hours.

Preheat your oven to 350’F. Line the baking sheet with foil. If your dough is too hard cut it with knife to form a strips and then cut it to even pieces. Roll the pieces into balls about the same size and place on ungreased foil about 1″ apart.

Bake at 350’F for about 15 minutes or until golden brown on the bottom. Let them cool completely and dust them with the powdered sugar.

One item from my second shop related to baking is this vintage glass rolling-pin.

What Color(s) Inspired This Tutorial? Please Share Your Advice For Creating Stunning Color Combinations.

This project is absolutely great. It includes a recycling idea since we are using the used wine bottle corks. I had a Thanksgiving in mind when we made these so I choose lovely orange and brown beads. They goes great with copper wire and natural cork.

Introduction

You can make them for any holiday dinner party and they are inexpensive. Albina (albinasjewelry) and I made this project together during one of our creative get-together gathering

Materials And Tools Used

Pre-drilled wine corks
Wire 26ga and 20 ga
Beads of your choice
Mandrel, 1” diameter
Round nose pliers

Tutorial Directions

1. Cut piece of 20 a wire, 2 ft long. Slide the wire through the cork’s hole, center the cork. Place a cork against a mandrel and start wrapping the wire ends around the mandrel, feeding the wire ends through the cork’s hole.NRIII

2. Wrap the wire until you have 2” of wire ends coming out the cork. Using round nose pliers and chain nose (or flat nose) pliers, make spirals. Place the spiral so it is covering the hole.NRIV

3. Attach 26ga wire; wrap the ring, adding beads.NRV
