ReDesignandReCycled

1. What is the name of your shop and what is unique about your shop?

On Etsy it’s called ReDesignandRecycled and my brand is ReThink Design. The unique thing about my shop is my products, all made from reused material with a lot of history.

2. Where do you live and how does where you live influence your creativity?

I live in the countryside of Sweden, outside a small town called Lidköping. about 2 hours from Göteborg. From my studio I have a view of fields and lupins in full bloom at the moment. I open the door and hear a lot of birds sing everyday. It´s a very peaceful and calm place.

3. What is it about having your own business that you love?

Being able to work with what I love. No one tells me what to do. Also, if I´m lazy there wont be any good results, it´s all depending on me. I also love to have the freedom over my own time. Sometimes it feels like I work 24 hours, but from time to time i´m also able to finish early and spend time in my garden.

4. What is your greatest business achievement?

To do this for a living!

5. How would you like to see your business evolve?

I would like to find more time to develop new products, I would love to have an employee focusing on marketing and B2B. More wholesale dealers outside of Sweden.

3. How did you learn to make this cookie?

This is my grandmas recipe.  It´s in Swedish measures cause I don’t know how to translate them, but there are conversion sites on the internet!

4. Please share a story or memory to go along with the cookie.

I love this recipe because it´s very simple and makes me think of Christmas. It´s my grandmas recipe and she taught me how to make it when I was little and now the tradition lives on.

#CIJRoadTrip – Sweden: Göteborg (Gothenburg)

Contributor post by Megha of byTheArtBug

Let’s travel to Sweden : Göteborg (Gothenburg) with Linda Winroth from ReDesignandReCycled

1. What city do you live in? What makes it special?
I live in Göteborg (Gothenburg) on the Swedish west coast. I think it´s special that we have water in the city center! We have a lot of cafées, actually we have the most cafees per capita in our city, maybe you´ve heard the swedish word “Fika”? The word “Fika” I would say means having a coffee break with friends, often accompanied by something sweet. Fika is is an important part of our culture.

3. How have the customs, traditions, geography, nature etc. inspired the items you create?
I´m very inspired by my grandma. I grew up in the countryside and learnt from her how to take care of nature, dont wast anything and craftmanship. She´s the one who tought me to how to weave rag rugs. Ever since I was little I’ve had a keen interest in fashion, design and environmental issues. ReThink Design gives me the opportunity to combine this and at the same time devote myself to something that feels meaningful. My philosophy is that no one can do everything, but everyone can do something!
