Color trends are a wonderful way to celebrate the seasons!
According to Pantone one of the top colors for Spring 2015 is Classic Blue.
Pantone Spring 2015
Classic Blue inspires calm, confidence and harmony. Serving as an anchor to the Spring/Summer 2015 palette Classic Blue is a shade that is strong and reliable. Just as the sea, because of its waterborne qualities, this Classic Blue is perceived as thoughtful and introspective.
Members of the EtsyChristmasinJuly Team have many Classic Blue items in their shops! Here are a few!
Oksana from SanaGem loves classic dark blue color, and she loves the sea. This eastern statement necklace was inspired by her favorite place in Crimea, Foilent cape:
There is no other place like that in the world. The sea turns all hues of blue, every wave is different in the sunlight. And each agate bead in the necklace has its unique patters, waves and foam.
Cape Fiolent is a strong energetic place, with the old monastery. Stone caves are carved in the rocks, and the church is standing high on the cliff.
The monastery was found by sailors, when their ship avoided crush, by God’s blessing. This is why the giant cross marks the rock standing separately in the sea.
Crimea is always Oksana’s inspirational place, even though she lives far away. If you are looking at the photos, please say a prayer in your heart for the people there, suffering in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
P.S. Her husband likes this necklace so much that does not want her to sell it.

Dawn Whitehand from DeeDeeDeesigns loves blues and greens as you may have noticed when you visit her shop.
She grew up on the coast in Australia so this may be the reason why!
Much of Dawn’s inspiration stems from organic colours and textures from my childhood – blues, greens, sandy colours and textures.
She loves to incorporate these feelings for colour and texture into her artwork.
So this jewellery set is a deep swelling blue with textures of the landscape featured by the specially selected glaze.

Kristy Jo from KrystalKlarityBeads loves real stones, and this type of thing has inspired her to begin working with raw stones and offering unpolished, earthy stones. She still loves these spheres though, as they come in almost all stones and they are almost always gorgeous!

Patricia from TheOldBarnDoor tells us that there is nothing more classic than the true blue found in nature and none more so than forget-me-nots. Here on this decorative pillow cover the forget-me-nots team up with lily of the valley and provide the perfect romantic setting for a love letter.

Amy Spock from BeadsandThreadsbyAmy started making these as a gift for her niece for her birthday, and she loves them. They are so versatile: makeup, passports, cameras, “necessities”, etc. and they have become a great seller in her shop. Amy picked up this stunning fabric in Missouri at a lovely little quilting shop near the Bass Pro Shops (where she dropped off my husband for a bit!) in Springfield. Amy fell in love with the fabric, and love the colors and patterns in the print.

Angie from RusticHomespun explains that blue represents both the sky and the sea. It is associated with freedom, intuition, intelligence, inspiration, loyalty and has positive affects on the mind and the body. Combining the color blue with other colors, will create a color palette that represents other meanings associated with it.
This then inspire me to create a one-of-a-kind patchwork wall hanging, featuring hearts in different shades of color blue and combining the colors of red and white. The hearts cut out were fused and appliqued onto homespun background squares and then machine quilted all around. It would look wonderful in any homes.

Marie-Antoinknit from 9ElizabethStreet feels that blue is such a classic color that calling it “Classic Blue” is almost redundant. She love blue because it’s so flattering on almost everyone. And this color is wonderful for bringing out blue eyes. The inspiration was the yarn itself – it is so soft, squishy and touchable. Marie-Antoinknit wanted to use it for cowls because of that softness.

Becky from LollysCubbyHole loves blue, always has. The blue sky always holds such wonder, the ocean endless with the colors of blue, washing in and over us. Becky sees the bright blue in her Granddaughters eyes and it makes her smile beyond any other blue there is!

Angie Ketelhut from petartbyangie loves blue & she thought this would be the perfect color for a custom portrait of a cat named Bella. It is a color Angie uses often in custom work.

CartoCreative from CartoCreative shares that Florence was one of the first map prints they created for their shop because it is a place so dear to their hearts. Steve and Mel spent their first “grown up” Christmas in Florence while Steve was attending university there. It’s such a beautiful city that’s full of history and a lot of great memories.

Wendy CN from CardNotions found the inspiration for this card from a customer, wanting a pop-up drum set card for a birthday invitation. Wendy made it in the classic blue color and made sure to include a bass drum, floor Tom, rack Toms, and snare drum, with cymbals in the background. If you peek behind the drum set you will see an empty chair waiting for the special birthday drummer to start the celebration!

Lin Collette from rhodyart uses a lot of blue in my work – she just did a search for blue and it turned up 4 pages! She thinks this comes the closest to classic blue (which is one of her favorites, only she calls it cobalt or sapphire). It’s one of the oldest listings in her shop but is still one of her favorites. Most of Lin’s work is inspired by pop culture, and this guy definitely is a part of pop culture – he wants to be a wrestler – he used to want to be part of the WWE but now she is thinking he may want to be a traditional wrestler, as in sumo or perhaps greco-roman. Not sure if there’s a pro league for greco-roman!
