There are many items in our shop that could be considered for the theme … Up in the Air. We have song birds, ducks, and butterflies that have been hand burned and/or carved and/or painted, depending upon the item. So, it was hard choosing which one to highlight. I chose this butterfly and floral sculpture because it is one of my favorite items. I love the contrast colors of yellow and black on the swallowtail butterfly. I also love its hues of pink on the hibiscus flower.

I have called this large oil painting the “Forest Spirit”. I painted a bird and a tree that are connected to the background of the blue sky and clouds. This is a little surrealistic picture and presents the tree in a somewhat abstract way, which is also the texture of the canvas and the tree leaf structure. All these elements intermingle. The colors of sky and nature are calming. The picture is very decorative and creates an atmosphere of relaxation. It will be a great decoration of the living room wall or another representative interior.

Hot Air Balloons Dog Bandana

Mairi from mairidesign says

The dragonfly symbolizes change and the perspective of self realization, representing an emotional maturity of wisdom, transformation and adaptability. As a creature of the wind, it reminds us to go beyond what we see on the surface and look deeper into the implications and aspects of life – but to keep a light, positive outlook even in our darkest moments. Enjoy this stained glass dragonfly as it catches the sun in your room or garden.

Spring Is The Favorite Season Of Przemila K from CanisArtStudio

CanisArtStudio

1. What is your favorite season and why?

My favorite season of the year is spring. I like it when the day is getting longer and nature wakes up. For me, this is the time when the best light for painting is. I paint with nature and I always look forward to painting flowers when they are in the greatest bloom. I love when birds sing because I also paint birds and I like to watch them.

2. What season is it now where you live? Have you seen a visible sign of the season changing?

I live in central Europe and I am currently in summer. This year is very hot and August is the time when there is a lot of fruit, and farmers harvest. This year there is a lot of fruit, especially apples and plums. This is the first sign of the coming autumn. Today, I also noticed a cold morning – it is also a sign that the end of summer is approaching.

3. What item in your shop represents your favorite season and the story behind it?

In my shop, there are many items representing different seasons, because I paint nature: animals, birds, flowers, etc. You can also find a lot of spring paintings and painted clocks with birds. But today I chose this pastel painting to tell the story of a little flower. This is the “Golden Lily” (Lilium Martagon). This plant is very rare and, in my country, it is under legal protection.
In the place where I live, are steep limestone rocks and on one of them is an old castle. There is also a legend. The owner of this castle hunted in this area together with his servant. This servant – a young knight candidate found the entrance to a cave full of treasures. The jealous ruler knocked him off the rock. When he came back home, a viper bit him. He could not be saved and after his death, the castle was ruined. No one else found the treasure…
One day, I was walking with my dogs in this forest and I found this little flower. This picture is my interpretation and illustration of the legend.
The painting was presented during my own exhibition and I attach to the parcel a catalog from this exhibition.

4. What seasonal traditions are celebrated in your part of the world?

I live in Poland and in my country, at this time of year, there are two traditional feasts: Our Lady of the Herb (15 August) and Harvest Festival.
On that day, people make bouquets of flowers and herbs. This day is an official celebration and a day off from work.

#CIJPopUpMarket #1 Shop – Przemila from CanisArtStudio

CanisArtStudio

1. What is the name of your shop and where do you look for inspiration?

My shop name is CanisArtStudio. “Canis” this is the Latin name of the dog. I’m a pet lover. Dogs, horses and other animals are my passions. I have an English Setter kennel and my mission is to immortalize of animals and nature.

2. How has your shop evolved over time?

Contact with customers is very inspiring for me. I started my business showing my paintings at dog shows. I went to international shows in Europe and met many people from different countries. I was looking for a place to contact my fans online and I found Etsy. Because many people also asked me horses, cats and other animals so I started offering more topics and more things. I get bored quickly, so I’m still doing something new. I am currently offering more oil paintings ready to hang and more things ready to ship.

3. What do you love most about your work?

Every order is a challenge. I love this moment when I get pet photos and the process of image creation begins. This is a struggle with matter to make the vision a reality. Sometimes I do a reconstruction based on a series of archival photos.

4. What motivating music do you listen to? Share your playlist that gets and keeps you going!

I’m a guitarist and I like to listen to guitar music, I like rock and pop music. My work requires extreme concentration and listening to classical music helps me.

5. What book are you reading right now and where is your favorite place to read?

Great inspiration for me are Monty Roberts books “The Man Who Listens to Horses” and other. I also wrote and published my book about behavior of animals. Now I want to translate my book into English and prepare the next books. That is why now I have a lot to learn about business and read business books. David Allen “Getting This Done” is my last.

About My Book: Fence Lie

Show us your Workspace: InekedeVries

Contributor post by Dawn from DeeDeeDeesigns

Next we visit the studio space of Ineke de Vries from InekedeVries who creates original art, art prints and handmade jewellery.

Please visit her shop and share some hearts!

Here’s what Ineke has to say about her workspace :

“I work from two spaces in my house.

My computer is in the backroom, that overlooks the garden. Here I do all my computer related stuff and digital art. I also use this room for photography, as it has the best light in the house.

I paint, draw and make jewellery in a small area, that is really a covered verandah at the front of the house.

The small size suits me, as it forces me to tidy up when I change between making jewellery and drawing.”
