Let’s take a vacation with Melody from OnSiletzBay

Crater Lake, Oregon, USA

Crater Lake, Oregon, USA

1. What is your favorite vacation destination and why? Where exactly in the world is it located?

Crater Lake, a National Park here in the Cascade mountain range of Oregon.

2.  What are several places everyone visiting this destination should see?

The historic lodge, built by the park service in 1915. If you want to stay there you have to make reservations months in advance, but the lobby and veranda are open to visitors. Driving around the rim is wonderful, and if you want to focus on the scenery you can take a trolley tour with a ranger guide, which includes stops for photos around the lake. You can also book a boat tour on the lake, which I have been lucky enough to do when my knees were up to it. It is a mile down a steep trail to get to the boat, and the return hike up is equivalent to 70 flights of stairs.

3. What special customs, traditions, geography, nature etc. are intriguing about this destination?

Crater Lake was formed when a volcano exploded about 7500 years ago and left a huge caldera, which over hundreds of years filled with water to create on of the purest bodies of water on the planet. No river flows in or out of the lake.

4. Where are the hot spots to eat and drink?

Food is managed by the park service, and so a lot of it is not very exciting – the exception was the fine dining in the Lodge was excellent. You can also order appetizers and drinks in the lobby and on the veranda overlooking the lake. A bottle of wine shared while watching the stars (incredible view of the milky way) makes for a special night.

5. Have you been to your favorite vacation destination more than once and will you visit again?

This was my fourth visit, once with young children, several times with teens, and this time with just my hubby. Each experience has been different, including the snow in late June, and the thunderstorm combined with the sunset on my birthday last week.

6. What are your social media sites?

Welcome June New Team Members – Part Two

Contributor post by Dawn from DeeDeeDeesigns

Join us in welcoming new members that joined during June …. visit their Etsy shops, favourite some items and maybe even share some on your social media!

Hi guys! I joined the team a few weeks ago and am very excited about promoting the event and making it a huge success.

I create bright, vivid pet portraits that capture your pets personality. I also offer this unique item where your pets portrait is printed on a pillow. I also create lots of bright, fun animal home decor designs so do check out my shop.

I was born in London, England but hopped the pond 17 years ago to Baltimore, USA where I now live with my family and guinea pigs. Good luck to everyone on the team!

Hi, my name is Julia and I am from Birmingham, England. I’m new to teams so this is going to be a big learning curve for me and I hope I can keep up and keep track of everything I need to be doing. Feel free to kick me up the butt to get me back on track if I go astray or do something wrong.

I’ve had my shop a couple of years, slowly adding items to it. My main product are knitted or crocheted lace shawls but last year I added a range of crochet lace covered Christmas baubles as a lower-priced item to try to attract customers and I have recently started adding lace baby matinee jackets too, again to try to attract customers into my store whilst still staying with the theme of Lace.

Almost everything in my store is one-of-a-kind as I use a lot of vintage yarn, yarn from small indie yarn producers and hand spun yarn, yes I spin my own yarn too!

I’ve decided to show you this pure Shetland Wool shawl that I made some time ago now with yarn that I spun myself and it features over 5,000 beads, all individually placed over the stitches at the time of knitting, so that they can’t travel along the yarn and out of placement, using a tiny crochet hook and a lot of patience.

Hello, my name is Judy Tosh from Belton, MO. I am happy to be a part of this team. It is hard to believe that half of the year is over already!

My shop consists of repurposing items into unique home décor. Lately, I have been repurposing ceiling fan light shades and fan blades.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Katerina and I am the face behind OnceUponJewels. I create theatrical and romantic jewelry inspired in folktales and fairytales that I collect around the world. I believe that everyone has a little bit of magic inside so, that is why my moto is #spreadyourfairydust.

One of my favorite pieces from my shop is my illustrated fairy pair of earrings. It is my first jewel design and I am very attached to it. I designed it inspired in the Nordic atmosphere I am leaving in the last years. My Fairy on A Bottle is a solid silver earring, hand painted and hand carved and i think that she is joyful and sexy at the same time.

I hope you like it!

Hi I’m Sandra from Charleston, SC . My shop sells “Warrior Pets” I created this design four years ago primarily for children that have a CHD (Congenital heart defect) and require open heart surgery. I have also expanded the line for children that have other illnesses/syndromes such as down syndrome, epilepsy, cancer. I love to think that my warrior pets bring these children a little joy into their lives and something to cuddle up to when they are not feeling so good. Thanks for letting me join your team.

Melody from OnSiletzBay says

Hi, I’m Melody living in the US, on the beautiful Oregon Coast. All of my life I have wanted to live by the ocean, and I feel so lucky that I am finally here and have been able to have my studio and create just steps from Siletz Bay. So my shop title reflects that, as do my choices of color and subject matter. I think this listing shows that.

I have been on Etsy as a sideline for many years with another shop, but am getting this one going as my main gig.
