Favourite Items You Have Made

Contributor post by Julie from EveryoneLovesGifts0.

Everyone has a favourite item that they have made, you pride yourself over it and customers love it.

We at CIJ love to see pictures and know what Favourite Items You Have Made? Why is it your favourite? Below are some favourite items.

Sherri from ButterflyFeetDigital says: This is a new design, and one of my favorites because I just love the way the little flowers and vase turned out. I used the same image in a birthday card as well but with dots for the background. I’m having fun with new design techniques and this is one example.

Richard and Tatiana’s from DesignstheLimit says: Most of the decanters in our shop are 100% lead-free crystal and safe for storage, but we have one flint glass or lead crystal decanter available. Originally discovered by Englishman George Ravenscroft in 1674, the technique of adding lead oxide improved the appearance of the glass and made it easier to melt. The use of the term lead crystal remains popular for historical and commercial reasons. Lead crystal glassware was formerly used to store and serve drinks, but due to the potential health risks of lead, this has become rare. They are still beautiful works of art to be appreciated for their beauty and we have only one available while supplies last. We specialize in sandcarved wine and spirit decanters and offer a selection of design and font choices accepting custom order requests.

If you are looking for the ultimate gift for the men and women in your life, give a personalized gift that will be treasured and can be put to good use! We have a number of lead-free decanters available and look forward to working with you to build the wet bar of your dreams. Ship direct to your gift recipient with gift wrap and gift cards available!

Lida Pereira from lililapt says: This towel set of three pieces (small, medium and big) is my favourite, although I love all the pieces I embroider and/or crochet.

In my opinion, they are beautiful, the colours are fantastic and the quality of the material is exceptional. They were made WITH lots of LOVE!!!

Bevan Blackshaw from TimberDimensions says: Why is this stool my favourite? Probably because I am a fan of seemingly simplistic design. This stool operates like a finely tuned watch. The engineering involved to make the item work as intended is quite involved. I have, over time, evolved the making process to enable me to offer the item at a reasonable price with a high level of build quality. Soon to be available in three different height. Each change of height requires the reengineering of 4 elements to ensure that the item operates as intended. The devil is in the detail. I love it!!

Stock Lane Studio from StockLaneStudio says: I would have to say that my favorite part of being an Etsy seller is the chance I get to make custom art and signs. I really love helping make an event special. And I take pride in the fact that I work really closely with each customer to get their personalized print or printable just right.

Tell us about yourself.

Hello all, we are a fun loving couple from India. We love to explore new things and like to create unique wearable and home decor items. All our products are hand painted and we love colors and nature, “God’s creation” inspires us a lot, so we make colorful products which brings charm and happiness in your daily life. Our products are inspired by nature mostly forest ,animals and birds and we are coffee lovers too.

We doodle everyday with a cup of coffee!

When did you open your business and what make you decide to do so?

Our small Business turned one year on Christmas last year, we opened our Etsy shop on 25 December 2015.

While working on a model making project we got an idea of making our sketches into tangible products and that’s how our small business call “”NVillustration” came to life. It was little tough for us in the beginning but after few orders we are happy to know that people around the world liked our products. And the best part is they liked our bird necklaces, those are very close our hearts so it was great to know that people liked them and bought them also. It’s fun shipping your product to different countries, it feels amazing that your art can connect you to the world. Today we have a few happy customers and that is everything for our small business.2

Tell us a bit about your products.

We makes wooden products, we explore many material, soon we will work with clay too. We doodle the nature around us and fill our sketch books with beautiful birds and props we use or see in our regular life.

The main USP of our business is hand painted products, we love painting. Our each and every product is developed from a doodle to a final illustration and then converted into a product through laser cutting and then carefully hand painted with love so our customer feels special and we can give them happiness.
We always prefer quality products we want to leave our buyers not just with product but with satisfaction.

We more believe in “HAPPY PRODUCT HAPPY BUYERS”.3

What inspires your work?

“NATURE” is the only inspiration and mundane things around us inspires our product so people can connect to it .4

What are your future goals for the business this year? What is your dream for this business?

Our future goals are to develop more unique products and try different materials and processes.
Soon we will be launching our new HOME DECOR collections and DIORAMAS.

The dream we have is to get in the world of miniature art and dioramas and expand our studio with more useful tools and techniques so that we can keep on making more amazing things!5

What makes your business stand out from businesses that sell similar products?

We make hand painted products that’s the thing which gives our products a unique character and secondly our designs are such that the people will connect to them easily.6

Tell us a bit about your work space. Do you have a separate studio?

Right now we are working from home, our room is our studio And we are happy with it.

We are equipped with all the basic amenities we need to make a product.

Maybe soon we will have our own  studio and workshop.7

What have you learned since opening your business that you wish you had known before hand?

We learned many new things while working. Like different material acts differently, sometimes like for e.g. wood acts very different in different climatic conditions because of its porousness, sometimes it becomes a major problem. We learned a lot about how to produce a final product with keeping in mind all the different possibilities and problems. We understood how to run a business successfully with minimum resources available.

It was a great journey so far and we are sure it will be wonderful ahead.

We are happy with our learning process life is all about exploration, world is endless there is still much more things to learn about , nothing is perfect before : “EXPERIENCE MAKES IT PERFECT”!8

Any advice for those thinking about selling on Etsy?

Yes why not, if you make something unique than Etsy is the place where you will find right people who will appreciate your creation.

Keep on working more and more, good work will always make you happy and wealthy too!9

When you’re not working, what do you like to do to unwind and have fun? Do you have any hobbies?

When we are not working we will be found with birds and coffee at some random highway cafe.10

What is your favorite quote?

Work until you no longer need to introduce yourself.
– The Wolf of Wall Street11

Grandparents Gifts

Contributor post by Opal from Apron Strings Owl Lady

What do you give to established persons such as grand parents for a special gift, birthday or holiday? They seem to have everything they want already – or maybe you’ve sent a little spy to ask them what they want this year, or perhaps need?

Tell us your stories, we want to hear, about the special grand parents and what you have for them this year! I’d love to hear about the – lovely, useful, whimsical or other – grandparent gifts you have in your shop, those you’ve given in the past, and why you think they are the best!

Sue and Misty from shabbyshopgirls says

Grandparents usually do an extraordinary amount of hosting family gatherings during the Holiday season! Drinks and food galore, there are usually accidents! Take along a set of fun tartan plaid cocktail napkins, as a hostess gift, so everyone has a place to set their beverage down without ruining the furniture!

This is a great topic and dear to my heart. Our family has traveled around a lot and our children have missed out on so many Christmases and Birthdays with grandparents that it breaks my heart. But we have relied heavily on video and old-fashioned cards in the mail.

I’ve designed a printable DIY gift from grandkids to grandma that even the youngest ones can contribute to. Our signs read: ‘Some of my favorite people call me Grandma’ and look great as is with a black chalkboard-style background with white and blue text and border. But it looks even better when grandkids add their special touch of coloring magic. Then grandma will know her grandchild really put her heart and soul into that gift. Our printable package includes a 5×7 file for creating a coloring postcard, an 8×10 sign, or a 14×18 inch poster that all the grandkids can help color.

We also have this sign for Grandpa, and soon to come: Grandmother, Grandfather, Oma, Opa, Abuela, Abuelo, Nana, Papa, Mamie, Papie, and more!

Is Grandpa a railroad collector? This is a Rock Island Railroad red globe lantern from the 1920s. In very good condition and sure to please those that love the stories and memorabilia of railroads.

Jim’s great-grandfather Pappy Grote was an engineer on the Chicago, Elgin, Aurora line in the late 20s and 30s. His grandfather Grote worked at the Elgin Watch Factory, so Jimmy would spend his time with Grandpa Grote walking to Lord’s Park in Elgin listening to him tell stories of the railroads. One of Jim’s favorite stories was during the depression, Grandma Ruby and Great Grandma Lizzie would bring soup and bread to the rail lines to feed the men who traveled the rails looking for work. And how Pappy would try to talk them out of doing it for their own safety, but they refused. Pappy ended up adding Lizzie’s homemade cookies to the food stuffs and walked down there every evening to keep them safe. Ends up, that Pappy would end up staying and talking to the men while Lizzie and Ruby made their way back home.

Jim always drifts towards anything doing with railroads or watches. He loved his grandparents and misses them. He does his very best to be a good grandpa to his 13 grandbabies. He knows that they will also remember the stories and their life with Papa.

I was raised by my grandparents and parents in a wonderful large extended family. I learned all about birds from my grandmother. This would make a wonderful gift to a grandparent who appreciates handmade items and one of a kind gifts.

Grandparents are so special in our lives. My Grandma loved to watch the birds, then my Mom did, and now so do I love Humming-birds. I love to watch them all, but these little creatures are so delicate and beautiful. Maybe Grandma, or Grandpa can’t see the birds outside so well anymore. Why not give them a beautiful painting?

Grandparents in our family are the ones who take the time to play games with the younger ones. The time spent together over a board game or a game of Yahtzee is always very special with lots of laughs. What better way to remember these times than a set of dice soaps?

I think this pillow cover will be a perfect gift for a grandmother who loves roses. Most grandparents like gardening and roses happen to be their favourite flower so this I believe would be a fitting gift this Christmas or Birthday. What’s also great about this pillow cover is that these roses will never wilt. It is also padded and quilted hence extra comfort. It is a pillow cover for colour, charm and comfort.
