When my daughter was born the most precious gifts we as new parents got were handmade items, and those were the ones that went into the memory box. Every now and then I look at them and feel the same joy again. When my friend had her first baby I knitted a cardigan for the little one in a larger size because I remember how quickly newborns tend to grow out of their adorable clothes. When I witnessed how happy this new mother was I knew that I wanted to knit similar items for my store. That’s how this cardigan came to life (perfect for a 6 to 12 months old baby), adorned with a little sheep because sheep are just adorable, right? And would we as knitters do without them?

Customer Relations

Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

Business relies a lot on what your relations with your customer is like. Is it good, bad, indifferent?

Here at Christmas in July we want to know what can (or do) you do to better serve your customer?

Kelly from ColourscapeStudios says I think the biggest thing in customer service is to be genuine. The reason people shop with small businesses like all of ours is to be able to connect to the maker/seller. Working within two genres that personalizes items, I’ve found that the people I work with react well to being served properly – using their name if you know it, talking through any questions and concerns they have, appreciating their time and most of all, delivering the product you say you’re going to.CSSCR

Gari Anne from beadloverskorner said I have been in customer service all of my life, and the most important thing in developing a relationship with them is to respond to their needs quickly, even if you don’t have the answer or its bad news, if there is an issue then stay on top of it until it is resolved. When you do that, it shows the customer that they are important and that they can trust you. This goes a long way in getting repeat business and word of mouth advertising!

Fortune Teller Amethyst Crystal ball Necklace

Rachel Placek from LoveandPetFurCrochet states I LOVE the customer service aspect of selling on Etsy. I get really excited when people ask me about creating a special item just for them. I know many sellers hope to just list their own creations and sell them but I actually love to create based on ideas and requests from my buyers. I find that if I add those creations as “made to order” items in my shop they end up being some of my best sellers.

An example of this is my crochet baby giraffe. I created this along with a gorgeous baby blanket for a customer who had very specific colors in mind. She wanted these two items for a baby shower gift and sent me a picture of the nursery design. Because I crocheted this giraffe for her I have sold at least 10 giraffes since listing this one last fall! I may have never thought to crochet this giraffe except for the request of this customer.

So, my advice, is to take the time to listen and think outside the box. If you can create something special for someone by all means do it! You won’t regret it.

Lia Russo from Ghirlandiamo says The customer care is really one of the most important aspects of selling for me.
For a long time I have been a trainer of that topic, so you can imagine how much I take care of it.

With customers it’s necessary to be very patient: a lot of people do not read descriptions and then, when they receive the item, they think you sent them a wrong one. This is just an example!

What is my customer care politics?
– To reply in the shortest time to any information request
– Great willingness
– A small gift every time I ship an order and a thanks card handwritten.

I see my customers appreciate all this and give a five stars review, combining it with nice and warm words.

Heralding the Arrival of Spring with Beautiful Bursts of Color

Contributor post by Catherine from DesignsbyCnC

During the dark days of winter, I look forward eagerly to the first burst of spring color.  Nothing signals the arrival of spring like seeing the colorful crocus peeking up through the snow.

There are many different varieties of spring flowers with daffodil, crocus, tulip and hyacinth being some of the most common ones.  To enjoy colorful year-round blooms in your garden, select plants with different blooming times such as the daffodil, the earliest narcissi appear in early spring, especially small cultivars like Tete-a-Tete.  For mid –spring color, the tulip which is just starting their long period of bloom is an all-time favorite. My personal favorite is the peony.  These colorful shrubs carry the garden from late spring to early summer.

Featured are the favorite spring flowers from members of the Etsy Christmas In July team along with an item from their shop that celebrates the colorful blooms of spring.

You might just discover a new variety of spring flower to try out in your own garden!

Nancy Duncan  from  EponasCrystals shared this:

My favorite spring flower is lilac. We have several in our yard and the scent is amazing! It was also my mother’s favorite and it reminds me of her.

These earrings are the lilac color I prefer:

Dana Hamant  from  LilybeanzBowtique had this response:

My favorite flower of Spring is a Lily. It is my birth month flower (Lily of the Valley) and the name of my middle daughter and namesake of my shop.

This item comes with handmade felt flowers that remind me of all the beauty of Spring.

Dandelion – is spring flower, especially in Kiev this year…. blossoming dandelions and my little daughter inspired me to hand make my ECO dresses with crochet flowers!

Valerie Brown  from FirepanJewellery added:

My garden is full of Spring flowers, and I am very inspired by them! One of my favorites is the Forget-me-not. They “came with the yard” and love my garden so much they spring up everywhere. I know Spring is really here when I see these little blue blossoms all over. Another reason I like Forget-me-not is that there are very few true blue flowers, but they are one of them!

Forget Me Not Sterling Silver Flower Necklace

Corkycrafts  from Corkycrafts remarked:

We plant sunflowers in a wide array of colors all year, the most popular are the yellow ones for the kids love to imagine they are in the land of Jack & the giant bean stalk when the yellow heads pop out in colors. I share my love of gardening with my customers and now sell the seeds during planting season to share a smile.

Sue and Misty  from shabbyshopgirls answered:

What could be more refreshing in the cold of winter than an arrangement of tiger lilies, snap dragons and iris in wonderful muted pastel colors of purple, pink, blue, green and white? These flowers are so beautiful they will take the damp and dark out of any Winter day and signal Spring to pop its cheery head!

Annie  from DesignedbyAnneliese commented:

I absolutely love Freesias in Spring! They smell so lovely and fragrant. My parents have them in their front yard and I love to pick some and take them home. They also remind me of warmer weather.  I have made some floral envelopes which remind me of Spring!

Solveiga  from Solviashop added:

My favorite flower of Spring is a Rose. Also I have my favorite song:  “Roses” is a song from American DJ duo The Chainsmokers. It was released as the second single from their debut EP, Bouquet on June 16, 2015. The song was written by and features vocals from American singer Elizabeth Roze Mencel, better known by her moniker Rozes.

Marjorie Scenna  from mscenna related:

I love spring flowers and look forward to seeing things pop up in my yard. I’m inspired by flowers and love finding ways to incorporate them into crafts. This vintage earring and button pendant reminds me of white peonies.

Pearl Gold Necklace

Rachel Placek  from LoveandPetFurCrochet told me this:

My favorite spring flowers are the Hydrangea. I love the different shades of blue and purple found in these blooms. They also keep well in a vase inside which makes them even more valuable. Here is a crochet coffee mug cozy I made depicting the beauty of their bloom:

Lia Russo  from Ghirlandiamo offered:

So many flowers evoke spring, but for me the most representative ones are daffodils.   It’s so nice to see them sprouting out from the soil not yet covered by green grass.  The most common are like these I used in my wreath: white petals and yellow heart and all completely yellow.  Sincerely I don’t know if other varieties exist, but these two ones are really fresh and lovely and they can perfectly be identified with spring.

Dawn Whitehand from DeeDeeDeesigns says:

Goodness, my favourite spring flower – that is a tough one!

Here in Australia I love our native flora – so enjoy the multitude of gum blossoms that dominate my natural garden …. I don’t have any items inspired by this (something I will have to look into), so will share a daisy pendant instead – another popular spring flower.

Lelia Valois from ValoisFelts commented:

I love it when dandelions, buttercups, clovers and daisies start popping up all over the grass.  Then there’s nothing better than laying out on a blanket with a dog, some cool drinks and a book.

Alexandra Richards from EyeLoveKnots added this:

I designed these gloves for the Happily Hooked Magazine for a Lace and Openwork theme. I have since worked many different colorways, but the initial piece was in this Rosy Cheeks colorway and the first thing I thought of as I worked through the design was Cherry Blossoms.

The magazine took a small poll on my gloves and found that people were between flowers and stars in the design. What do you see?

It Takes Two…

Contributor post by Sheila from BeadyEyedBird

They say it takes two to tango — and for some of us it takes two to run our shops. We asked if there were some mother/daughter teams like us at BeadyEyedBird, or sibling-run shops, partner or spouse shops, or just two friends or business partners working together. We wanted to know how other duos tango with two! Here’s what we found out…

Rachel Placek from LoveandPetFurCrochet said:

Every avatar, logo, banner and business card were created by my sister, Lisa, who graduated with an art degree from Georgia State University. I could not have the look and brand in my shop that I do without her. I love that I think about her every time I look at my logos and my business cards. Here is an example of something she created for me to be able to share a custom embroidery listing in my shop:

Stock Lane Studio is a run by a team of 3. It’s a collaboration between me and my two daughters. My daughters contribute art, photography and poetry and I contribute everything else, including my own graphic design, word art and photography. I like this set up since we can offer three different styles and perspectives to reach a broader audience.

This motivational wall art for girls is an example of our collaboration: all three of us shared ideas about setbacks we have encountered and things people say to girls that can be discouraging. Then we discussed a color scheme and I digitally designed it. Other art that we offer can be 100% the work of one daughter or myself.

Favorite Fashion Trends

Contributor post by Catherine from DesignsbyCnC

Fashion can be considered as our most popular form of expression.  Our fashion style varies greatly over a period of time.  Several factors such as our social class, age, occupation and location also affects our style sense.

Fashion is influenced by pop culture, and the ever-changing style of clothes worn by celebrities.  A trend in fashion occurs when others mimic or emulate this clothing style.

My favorite fashion trend is the styles of the 1940’s.  This time period was long before I was born, but I have always loved the more tailored style which highlighted the hour-glass silhouette.  With the start of   WWII, and a strict rationing on fabric, dresses in the 1940’s became shorter.  During this time the two piece suit known as a victory or utility suit became popular.  Women could mix and match skirts, blouses, and jackets for a new outfit every day. After the war ended, the suit style remained popular due to its comfort and practicality.

After the war ended, a new fashion style began to emerge which embraced femininity, with rounded shoulders, shapely bust lines, closely defined waistlines, slightly padded skirts, and full, billowing skirts that hung just below the calves.  Fashion in the 1940’s was a good mix of comfort and glamour.

I asked the members of Etsy’s Christmas In July Team to share their favorite fashion trends and to highlight a fashion item from their shop.

msmadmax from madmaxshop says:

Fashion constantly refers to the past for inspiration.

The shop has been gearing up for spring and a great deal of fashion trends for each season borrow from decades past.

Teacher Appreciation Day

Contributor post by Catherine from DesignsbyCnC

Teaching is a time-honored profession dating back to the learned men of ancient times.  Priests and prophets taught children of the wealthy and noble the skills to take up their roles as leaders and businessmen. The priests’ position was elevated above many strata of society, and they were treated accordingly for their knowledge and wisdom. Teacher appreciation was a widespread feeling, and respect for teachers was proportional to their high value in those societies.

In 1944, our political and education leaders discussed the need for a national day to honor teachers.  It was not until 1953 that a National Teacher Day was proclaimed by the 81st Congress after some persuasion by Eleanor Roosevelt.   Congress declared March 7, 1980 as National Teacher Day.

The National Education Association continued to observe Teacher Day on the first Tuesday in March until 1985, when the National PTA established Teacher Appreciation Week as the first full week of May.  The NEA Representative Assembly then voted to make the Tuesday of that week National Teacher Day.  National Teacher Day is an “unofficial” National holiday.  This year National Teacher Appreciation Day is celebrated on Tuesday, May 3.

Teachers are the unsung superheroes of our lives today.  Every day they not only educate, but also support and inspire millions of children.  Their work and impact extends far beyond the boundaries of the classroom.

It is the perfect time to say “thank you” to the special teachers that you know.  Let them know that they are appreciated for all that they do and for the difference they make in our lives.

The members of The Christmas In July Team have come together to salute our teachers with lovely gift ideas to let them know just how much they are appreciated.

Sue and Misty from shabbyshopgirls shared this story:

I used to have a band teacher who called every one of the girls, “Gracie”.  He was great!  A pillar of patience and encouragement to do better.  What fun it was to be in his band class!  There are many of us who would love to present a lovely gift to a teacher that has made an impact on our lives!

Most of my favorite teachers were English teachers which was lucky because I’m math minded.  Those English teachers really seemed excited about their job and took personal interest in their students.  They also explained things simply for those of us like me who had a tough time wrapping our minds around word creativity.  I would love to give them one of my Owl Mug Cozies with a nice coffee mug as I believe a little caffeine every day helps to keep the mind sharp.

Stock Lane Studio from StockLaneStudio said this:

I’m a former teacher and have witnessed and participated in a wide variety of teaching a learning styles from around the world.  I’ve had loads of favorite (and well, yes, not so favorite) teachers myself, but some of my favorite teachers are the ones who taught my own children.  A few of them really stand out because of the care and interest they showed in making sure my child succeeded and learned to manage my child’s special needs in the classroom and how to even adapt the classroom to her special needs.  We spent many hours discussing ways to make things work and they were always positive and caring.

Here’s a printable motivational QUIET sign that celebrates all the amazing things teachers and kids are doing in their classrooms.  Sometimes it’s important to make a lot of noise in class, sometimes students need to concentrate in silence.

My favorite teacher was my fourth grade teacher.  He was a wonderful, very tall man who never raised his voice (which was still pretty common in the 60’s).  He taught us a lot about life, how some things are more important than others – like being kind, considerate and helpful.  My class was very diverse with kids from your typical middle class family and a high percentage from way poorer families.  He managed to get us all in the same boat, work together and respect each other.  He was a true teacher for life who taught me the most valuable lessons.

It is hard to pick just one, I had so many teachers that were very influential in my life.  Mrs. Curtis and Mrs Thorne were two that really stick out and even became friends as I got older.  It was really neat because I ended up becoming a teacher and worked in the same school with them.  Mrs. Curtis was the principal at the school at which I worked.  They both continued to come along side me as an adult and mentored me.  I hope as a music teacher I had the same impact as they have had on my life.

What Are You Doing For Earth Day?

Contributor post by Sheila from BeadyEyedBird

At BeadyEyedBird, as with so many of our awesome colleagues on Etsy, we are committed to the planet and continuously seeking new ways in which we can become more ‘green’.

Now that conscientious people everywhere are considering alternatives to unhealthy chemicals and production systems, unfair trade practices and other byproducts of the un-green greed machine, the appreciation of handcrafting is expanding in a great way. For eons, folks in various industries have expended a lot of human and natural resources – digging up the land, disrupting eco-systems, and polluting the environment. But as most of you likely know already, you can also stay ‘green’ and still make and sell beautiful things.

From the items you choose to sell, to the packaging you use to ship, we hope you strive to be as environmentally friendly as possible. The things you can do in this regard range from using natural/renewable heating sources for your work space, reducing and reusing materials, carpooling to reduce emissions, using recycled and non-toxic packaging and production materials, etc.

Some of our great Teamies on CIJ shared their green practices and products with us — in celebration of Earth Day (April 22). Here’s how they honor our earth.

I repurpose used tin cans and make wedding table vases or home decor pieces, using water base non aerosol paints and sealers. Over the years, on and off Etsy, I have kept thousands of tin cans in all sizes out of the landfill. (not everyone recycles cans).

I always make a point to plant something on Earth Day, no matter where I am or what type of yard (or lack of) I have.
In the past I have also done neighborhood and city clean ups.

With a business, Earth Day is an opportunity for me to promote Earth -friendly practices that so many of us do everyday anyway. So I list that items are shipped using recycled materials, but I also don’t want to turn shoppers off if they feel like they’re going to get their items in a dirty used box or something. So I try to show pictures of my packing as well.I am still trying to find the right papers to use for my prints. The one company that provided papers using recycled products has stopped that line. I do try to make sure that all my papers use at least some post-consumer recycled and/or earth friendly materials though. It’s great for Mother Nature, and it also appeals to an earth friendly niche market so I try to add that to my tags, title and description if I can fit it in.

To be honest, PRINTABLES, instant downloads are earth-friendly products. A much smaller carbon footprint since they aren’t being physically shipped around the world using trucks, planes, ships or cars. And no packing material. And some buyers don’t even print them out, but use them for electronic purposes. Here’s one inspiring printable:

p.s. I will have to say, that I am one of THOSE mothers – you know, the ones that pack their kids lunches with re-used yogurt or deli containers. I would prefer to use glass, but that could be hazardous. I was raised by a single mother of 7 children, so we did what we could to save money – who knew that also turned out to be earth-friendly too?!

I will have to say that there are many nice cloth, re-useable lunch and snack bags sold right here on Etsy!

I grew up in country New Zealand with a love and appreciation of all aspects of nature and the need to nurture the environment. These priorities still dominate my design and sew projects. I delve into my large stash of gathered and gifted fabrics, buttons and trims whenever possible. I made this glasses case as part of my design and sew project to re-purpose beautiful designer silk ties that had experienced a brief but exciting life before they were carefully stored away in a drawer.

When it comes to my Etsy shop, I’m really trying to find ways to go lean and green. In this past year, I have been slowly transitioning my shop from selling physical items to digital downloads. This change has saved me from extra packaging, paper and especially, plastic materials. Over 90% of my sales involve virtual goods making my store’s footprint much, much smaller.

Last year, I finally switched over to a paperless system of bookkeeping, which I was reluctant about for way too long. I was constantly printing off receipts for every sale. It was ridiculously wasteful. Now, everything is stored electronically. Since I already have a system to back up my work anyway, all my receipts and work is protected from data loss and crashes (which has happened, btw, so please remember to back up your files).

And finally, I personally recycle and reuse materials at home in other ways. Clean cardboard packaging is repurposed for sending out packages, when needed. We have a great recycling program in our county and I do compost materials for my garden. Roses love egg shells and coffee grounds!

Over this next year, the goal will be to go around my old house and start finding ways to reduce electricity usage by fixing small air leaks and seals around my windows. I’m also looking into a program my dad is using for his electricity in Georgia:
www.arcadiapower.com

He just switched from traditional electricity to completely renewable energy for his apartment. Just wanted to pass this along in case you all are interested as well.

I reuse boxes that I receive items in to ship any of my items requiring boxes. I also reuse tissue paper from gifts that have been give to me to wrap my crochet items in before shipping. My crochet Soap Saver Pouches are great to use with handmade soaps to keep them longer and can be machine washed/dried. They made using cotton yarn and last a long time. No need to replace like you have to with the soap puffs found at the stores. I have them available in many different colors and welcome custom orders.

It’s the one day of the year you get to dress up as silly, scary or sexy as you want. Halloween lets us just have some fun with expressing ourselves.

Etsy’s got you covered, as long as you plan ahead and order in time. Here are some unique finds to really set your costume apart from the rest.

As long as we are talking about planning ahead, why not sew your own costume?

A black cape is a great way to start a costume. This one, with its beautiful clasp can transform you into a vampire, a witch or even a medieval lady.  With its versatility you will be able to use it for many years.

If you are like me, you have at least one witch hat in your closet. You know, just in case you need an impromptu costume. If that’s the case add a cat and a broomstick pin and it doesn’t matter what else you wear, you’re set!

I love this little boho chic sweater and matching headband! The colors are perfect together, and coordinate perfectly with any outfit. The ruffle along the yoke adds a girly feature. This sweater will take your favorite baby through any season. The matching headband has a nice stretch to fit easily on baby’s head and the flower can float along the headband to position on either side, or top, of the head.

I really don’t want to make Santa hats for Christmas, so am making hats in Christmas colors that can be worn for more than a few days. This one is for under 6 months. I make most of my items for children from Caron simply soft wool since it has a sheen to it that I like, it is very soft and cuddly, and it is made in the USA.

This is a Vintage pattern (NOT the finished product). It has to be sewn. This is a cute dress for someone’s young girl. This was a pattern given to me (there were a lot of them) by my friend’s family. They were getting the house ready for an estate sale.

This vintage blouse I found in a Palm Springs Thrift store. It has an awesome historical print of compass sometimes called a wind-rose, is a figure on a compass, map, nautical chart or monument used to display the orientation of the cardinal directions—North, East, South and West—and their intermediate points. Just amazing and one-of-a kind item!

In keeping with what is in my heart, I have been starting to make more things related to cancer awareness. I do not want to charge much for these things as I want them available to everyone – and so this is the part of the shop where my heart is at the most and where I am expanding and always looking for new products and ideas. I have many plans in the works for adding much to this section by early fall. This keeps me on the right path in life and grateful every day!

I have always been interested in actually being able to create the type of wonderful flowers I saw everyday growing up in a 10,000 square foot silk flower business. I have combined this with my love of all things that glow in the dark and 40 years of working with different clays to bring you this line of fun forever flowers to wear and share!

Andrea Mados from EveryKnotIsAPrayer says:

I love making friendship bracelets, they take my mind off my worries knot by knot, and I also love experimenting and trying out new patterns and color combinations. I consider that Every Knot is a Prayer, every purchase is a little contribution to my son’s treatment, who was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 2 years. He still undergoes chemotherapy, and thankfully responds well to it. He’s 6th birthday will be on the 18th of August!

Rachel Placek from LoveandPetFurCrochet says:

Hi! I’d like to share my Yellow Duck Coffee Mug Cozy. I just created him this week. I’ve had owls, penguins and pandas for over a year now and since the owls and penguins are so popular I decided to add a yellow duck to my line! I am very happy with how he turned out, especially with the quacking beak. I think he would mainly be a gift for her but I could see him working for a man if I chose a more manly button to fasten him on with. He is a made to order item and I am able to customize him a bit like changing the background color if desired or using a different kind of button or even making the duck a different color. I could also give him sleepy eyes if someone preferred but I think ducks are usually though of as bright-eyed. Thanks for letting me share a little bit about Mr. Yellow Duck!!

Judith Messenger from FabriArts says:

I started making little wallets like this to have some small items to sell at craft shows. Not everyone attending a craft show can afford to purchase a quilt! The little wallets are great for holding credit cards, business cards, gift cards, transit passes and more. I use them as an attractive way to present a gift card as a present to friends and family. They have proven to be a great seller both at craft shows and in my Etsy shop.

I’ve just started making coordinating tissue cases, so this is my first listing to offer shoppers either the set or individual pieces.

Just in time for Back-to-School, this Keyboard & Mouse Wrist Pillow Rest is an excellent way to personalize that new dorm room and make sure your student is getting proper Ergonomic Relief from those hours of computer use doing homework.

Now offered individual or as a set. This set is filled with a combination of Flax seed & Rice for contour and comfort for any wrist. Use “as is”, or added comfort is easily achieved by heating in the microwave for soothing heat, or place in the freezer for cooling relief.

The Keyboard rest measures 16 x 3″ inches in Length & Width. This versatile size can adapt to either standard keyboard or across or in front of your laptop. Got a tense neck after hours of computer use? Just heat or cool this pack for instant relief!

The Mouse Rest measures 7 x 5″ inches in Length and Width (at its widest points). Unlike most on the market, this pack is designed with a curved indention allowing for added comfort and free mouse movement. When using it can either lay flat or “tip up” allowing the sides to come up around the wrist. Caution: You may not want to stop working at that computer – because “it feels so good!”

This “New” fun Leopard fabric pattern has been requested several times, so that tells me it is time to add it to more products in my shop. We have several other patterns available and always enjoy working with buyers for special requests. Contact me today and let’s get to personalizing that work space!

Ina from InaSudjana says:

Here’s a new product from my shop. I’ve been meaning to create and add some wall hangings to my shop.

The idea came from some customised mini floral wreaths that I did for a customer. The directions that I decide to take from this wreath are endless.

I’ve chosen pastel floral this time as winter is soon to finish here in Australia and we’ll soon be welcoming spring. These butter yellow, pale pink and pale blue are just perfect for it.

CartoCreative from CartoCreative says:

This was a really fun project that accidentally became a map. I was experimenting with different fonts and wanted to see what it would look like putting a whole bunch of them together. Obviously I’m obsessed with maps because that experiment turned into a map of the United States with each of the state initials in a different font.

kosmosa from GiftyTreasures says:

This summer I went to an art store I have not previously been to and discovered they had a selection of very interesting papers. Instantly I got a bunch of ideas on how I could use them. The person packing them for me asked what I’m planning to do with them, and I told her I paint with watercolors. She said those are not really suitable for watercolors (they have a texture that would make it very difficult to paint on), but having a poor art teacher in the past, I learned to ignore “advice” that limits creativity. I knew I’d come up with a way to make this stuff work for me, even if it took some trial and error first.

And here’s the result: you could call it a mixed media project, because that’s what a lot of people call this kind of collage technique these days. I only used my watercolor supplies, so I guess it is still technically a watercolor painting. One reason is I know those are high quality and will not fade or change color over time.

I see a lot of people endorsing bad quality art supplies for mixed media projects on the internet. I’m not sure the artists realize this, but I remember it’s very disappointing to see your artwork change appearance over time. It takes a bit of research and testing to find the good quality supplies, but it’s worth it when you look at your colorful artwork and know it’ll be just as beautiful in the future as it is now.

As you can see I love colors, and you might ask: What is this rainbow spill nonsense? Well this is abstract art, so you can look at it any way you want.

Some artists would advise to limit the color palette to just a couple of colors when creating artwork. But there’s that word again: limit. That’s not how I roll.

This is my newest item, Apple Fabric Table Runner!

I use quite a lot of retro style fabrics & I love GREEN so this fabric is a definite favourite of mine. I also make co-ordinating placemats in sets of 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12. It’s certainly a gift for a woman & especially if she loves green or has a vintage decor theme in her home.

My most popular fabric is my ‘Retro Coffee’ & I sell so many placemats, table runners & sets.

Every Saturday, my husband and I have started a tradition of hunting for wonderful one of a kind finds. objects of beauty and charm from years gone past.Yesterday, as I was picking this sweet bowl was hiding in the back of a nest of other bowls. I love the warmth and the rustic farmhouse feeling that it gives. The thought of those cold winter mornings, to come to breakfast with a breath of sunshine.
