Tell us about yourself.

My name is Stacey and I have been a crafter since my grandmother taught me to cross stitch as a child. I was an avid sewer for a long time but found floral design eight years ago and I have never looked back! Initially, I took a beginner class and have since completed a professional program to learn the art. I continue to work every week to learn new methods and to grow as a designer. I am also a wife and a proud mother of three!

When did you open your business and what make you decide to do so?

I opened my business in April of 2016. I had made as many silk floral arrangements as I could for myself and others so I decided to give my designs a try on Etsy. I love creating pieces that add beauty to a home on a daily basis.

Tell us a bit about your products.

I create original, good quality silk floral arrangements, wreaths and faux succulents. I can do any style arrangement from traditional to modern. Regardless of the style, I try to design arrangements that have a lot of texture and visual interest while incorporating beautiful blooms of flowers. All of my pieces are meant to add that “special touch” to a room or space in one’s home.

What inspires your work

I am mostly inspired by combinations of fresh flowers that I have worked with or see in gardens, nature etc. I work to create that “fresh flower” feel into a silk floral arrangement that can be displayed at home. I love the texture and interest of succulents so I like to work with those a lot too.

What are your future goals for the business this year? What is your dream for this business?

My goal for this year is to become more established on Etsy and to continue to grow my customer base. My dream has always been to own my own business so I will keep working on it!

What makes your business stand out from businesses that sell similar products?

I offer many different styles of arrangements and wreaths as well as color combinations while providing the best quality and customer service possible. Also, I work hard to meet the requests of customers and give them exactly what they want when working with them on custom orders.

Tell us a bit about your work space. Do you have a separate studio?

I am in the process of clearing out a room to serve as a studio for Lilac House. In the meantime, I have a small space in the kitchen.

What have you learned since opening your business that you wish you had known before hand?

I wish that I had more knowledge about SEO and how to take good product pictures. I have spent a lot of time trying to improve in these areas!

Any advice for those thinking about selling on Etsy?

Yes, give it a try if you are passionate about something that you create. Also, give a lot of thought to what you want to communicate about your product to your customers.

When you’re not working, what do you like to do to unwind and have fun? Do you have any hobbies?

I love to take walks with my two dogs and I always look forward to spending time with the family.

What is your favorite quote?

“Success is never final and failure never fatal. It’s courage that counts.” – Unknown

#CIJVacation – Taos, New Mexico, USA With LilacHouseFlorals

Contributor post by Michelle of EviesToolEmporium

Let’s take a vacation with Stacey from LilacHouseFlorals

Taos, New Mexico, USA

Taos, New Mexico, USA

1. What is your favorite vacation destination and why? Where exactly in the world is it located?

One of my all time favorite vacation destinations is Taos, New Mexico located in the southwestern United States. I love the big, blue skies and the beautiful western scenery.

2.  What are several places everyone visiting this destination should see?

If you ever have the chance to visit, you should make time to tour the Taos Pueblo and go to the Rio Grande Gorge (maybe even go on a white water rafting tour). Also, it is fun to tour the many art studios on the Taos Square. If it is winter, the Taos ski valley is close by.

3. What special customs, traditions, geography, nature etc. are intriguing about this destination?

Taos is famous for it’s beautiful southwestern landscapes. You can see the tallest mountain in New Mexico, Wheeler Peak, from the town. It is known as an artists colony and people come from all over to paint the New Mexico sky.

4. Where are the hot spots to eat and drink?

The chile rellenos at the Taos Inn are delicious!

5. Have you been to your favorite vacation destination more than once and will you visit again?

We used to visit Taos almost every year but our life is pretty hectic right now so we haven’t been in a while. I hope to get back soon!

6. What are your social media sites?

Nature Gifts

Contributor post by Julie from EveryoneLovesGifts0

Spring is nearly upon us followed by the lovely summer months. I love this time of year with the sun shining on our faces, it makes us all happy. But it is also a time to take notice of nature around us, nature can be of trees, flowers or nature animals themselves.

Here at CIJ we want to know what gifts you have that reflect the theme ‘nature’ and tell us a little about your gift.

Dawn Whitehand from DeeDeeDeesigns says: This necklace is made from clay, which is from the Earth, and features two pendants in the shape of leaves. The leaves were smoke fired in a bonfire using tree branches, leaves and various other natural materials, such as pine cones.

So this necklace certainly is of and from nature!

Stock Lane Studio from StockLaneStudio says: No matter how old I am, I’ll always love collecting rocks. The image for this zipper pouch was taken on a rock hunt on the coast of Maine. Perfect vessel for our skipping rocks.

Candy Rauber from WickedlyCreative says: This little hand embroidered ornament represents the nature of Spring in a fun colorful way. Flowers blooming and a bird (which I imagine chirping) brings thoughts of warmer weather.

Diana from JolieFemmeByDiana says: Forest Fun is the theme of this little tote with a plush squirrel and covered with mushrooms. Spring is a good time to get out and hike in nature and look at animals and plants in wild places.

Richard and Tatiana from DesignstheLimit says: We are enjoying the first signs of spring and have a number of flowers blooming in the yard. Our magnolia has just bloomed and we picked all of the flowers in our newest bridal listings. Time to start gardening and the best way to relax after a hot day in the yard is with a cold ice tea!

Stacy from LilacHouseFlorals says, Celebrate the beauty of spring with an elegant hydrangea wreath for your front door!

Carola Bartz from CarolaBartz says, For me, the ocean is one of the big forces of nature. I am lucky to live close by the Pacific Ocean and whenever I spend time at the coast I am captivated by its stunning beauty. A walk on the beach shows me all the treasures nature has to offer right here: driftwood, shells, sand dollars, algae, small crabs.

This mixed media painting was inspired by the interestingly shaped piece of driftwood I found at one of our beaches. Everything else evolved around it. I added some shells and a sea star as well. The quote by Kate Chopin was the final touch and fits perfectly.

Corkycrafts from Corkycrafts says, Spring is time for trees to bloom new leaves and flowers.
It’s also a time for enjoying sunshine and warmer temps.
A time for planting flowers. Texas is known for wildflowers along the highways. We also offer them as wedding favors too.

Beautiful Flowers

Dawn Whitehand from DeeDeeSupplies says: Spring and Summer sees the emergence of Ladybirds, and these Ladybird charms are perfect for creating spring jewellery, keychains or a wide variety of crafts!

Holistichem from Holistichem says: Our bracelet features a natural Lava Stone charm. Lava Stone is formed from magma erupted from a volcano, so you can have a little bit of nature hanging from your wrist!

Linda from LazyYVintage says: The life of a farmer is about nature. And, this cute Precious Moments plate is called, “I Believe in Miracles.” The miracle of life and nature are one in the same. As we continue through our lives and adventures remember to take the time to enjoy nature and all its wonders.

Christine from cwagenblass9 says; Things in nature have always been an inspiration to me like the patterns and colors of flowers and butterflies.

Flowers and Butterflies

Sherri from ButterflyFeetDigital says; As a gift, one could print up a few of these ladybugs and flowers mini-notecards and tie them up with a ribbon. What says nature more than bugs and flowers?

Ladybugs, Flowers Mini Notecards

Kristen from KestrelCollection says; Great as a gift or for yourself this red and pink floral motif necklace is a way to wear a little spring time nature. I love to see my floral jewelry worn by the fairies at the city renissance festival.

Karen Hafel from timetalentjewels says; What more fun in the springtime than to go fishing down by the lake? I had the privilege when I was growing up to have my very own lake so boy oh boy the stories I can tell of the fish I caught!

Spring time bracelet

Barbara from MermaidsHatBox says; I love the spring, when in my garden the flowers begin to sprout.
My garden is a little bit chaotic. I have hardly a plan and plant where I find place. So it is often a surprise in the spring, where some plants sprout from the soil.
The purse from pure new wool is hand-knitted and felted, then embroidered and decorated with beads. The bag will be closed by a button which colour suits the embroidery.

Hey Everyone!

I’m new to this whole Christmas in July thing, never even heard of it until recently, but it sounds really cool. Christmas is probably my favorite holiday, so having it twice a year is awesome!

These earrings were my best sellers during November and December last year and I hope to sell even more of them this year!

Dana Hamant from LilybeanzBowtique says

This is the first tutu dress that I made. Prior to this creation, I was making just plain tutus and headbands. I had an inspiration one day and ended up with this piece. It is still one of my most favorite pieces I have ever made.
