Back To School

Contributor Post by Mairi From mairidesign

Ah, it’s that time of year again, where the children are excited to be starting or returning to a new year of education. Most likely, they’re sad that the holidays are ending but happy to be seeing their friends and meeting new ones on their first day. It’s a very special time for all and what better way to keep the memories, than with items from our talented team? And, let’s not forget the teachers! It’s a huge day for them too. Have a browse through the selection below and click on the photo to buy in Etsy.

We all send our good luck wishes for the little ones’ first day back to school.

Now that my daughter is grown and out of school, I don’t have to worry about the back to school craziness. Can’t say that I miss it either! Finding the perfect binder, the perfect notebooks and let’s not forget that some schools even have “recommendations” of what to buy that you must follow. That is not my idea of a fun time.

I do however, have a recommendation for you to consider! Back to school isn’t just about the students! How about the teacher too? Many teachers are seen carrying clipboards during the school year and here is a UNIQUE one that could be the envy of all the other clipboard carrying teachers! It features unique muted purple colors, a sense of nostalgia, is durable AND can even be hung on the wall when not in use. If your desk looks anything like mine, you’ll appreciate this!

Cristal Hughes from DesignsbyCristal says:

This is a big seller amongst my teachers because of the inspirational words it speaks to them. I worked in the public school system and would see 90% of the teachers with lanyards around their necks that held keys to opening the classroom and cabinets where important belongings or school supplies were. This lanyard would be perfect. It can come as a one piece or a detachable (the key section comes apart). Either way it’ll be useful, yet fun and versatile.

Going back to school and having to remember so many things, and sometimes being stressed, I think this would make a bright and happy add on to Planners/journals and Backpacks.

Being a teacher, I know I needed lots of things to begin the school year, just as my students did…

I loved my magnetic handmade decoupaged mousetrap note holder that was on my whiteboard. It held reminders, papers to pass back, certificates, etc. I knew right where to go each period to grab what I needed without wasting time looking for something that I thought I put in a safe and handy place…not…

This stone apple is a vintage find. When I found it, I thought that this will be an excellent traditional gift for a teacher. You can use it as a paperweight or just put on a shelf for display. A sweet and useful gift.

Green Apple Paperweight

Hard to believe I’ve been making these over 20 years, but these are great for the walk or ride to school, and have an adjustable strap (or removable), a clip that can attach to a backpack, and insulate for hours. Several standard sizes, and custom sizes available. One woman returned to replace hers after a year on the playground! It had been dragged across asphalt, swung around by elementary school kids, and generally bullied!!! They’re great for keeping on a desk, kept near a lunch, fit into an auto cup holder, and if you keep your beverage in here with a tight fit, it won’t have condensation.

Members of the Etsy Christmas In July Team have been inspired by the color Harbor Mist! They have created items in their shops reflecting this inspiration! Here are a few!

zizzybob from zizzybob says:

I designed this quilted fabric postcard myself. It is based on an old National Geographic photo. Fabric postcards are a great way to send a greeting, to friends or family (or just keep it for yourself).

Przemila K from CanisArtStudio says:

I love delicate shades of gray. It’s a perfect balance for colors in any interior design. Harbor mist is very inspiring. I use these shades as backgrounds for my pastel colleges and drawings. Harbor mist and other shades of gray are also good as a border – passepartout for artistic works on paper. You will find these colors in my shop.

CanisArtStudio

Patricia from TheOldBarnDoor says:

Who knew gray (grey) could have so many different shades yet to me they all evoke a feeling of calm and serenity. This Inukshuk made from stone looks out over mist covered Lake Ontario and was left behind by some visitors to the area. Strength Serenity and a sign of friendship.

TheOldBarnDoor

spoiledfelines1 from SpoiledFelinesArt says:

I love neutral colors, and the soft gray of “Harbor Mist”, while still a neutral, is a departure from the warmer earth tones that I tend to use on my items. It’s a nice cooler earth tone shade, and I love the way it highlights the under belly of our hand carved wood male Baikal Teal duck!

Judy Merashoff from JAMsCraftCloset says:

My Elephant plunger became a reality after I made my Flamingo Plungers for my Florida friends. In one of my Facebook groups, I was given many suggestions of other plungers. The elephant and giraffe were next, then the flower ones. After the flowers came the Poop Happens and Foxy Lady and Foxy Dude. My last request was for a Retro Camper plunger. I made four different Retro Campers so my potential customer would have a choice. That is my last addition to the plunger family. My home is being overrun by plungers!

Cristal Hughes from DesignsbyCristal says:

I am always on the look out for inspirational sayings for my products so when this one came across my path it jumped right at me to make it apart of my collection.

I can do all things is part of Philippians 4:13 and in the world we live in this scripture has great meaning to a lot of us or will if you’re looking for something to hold on to.

This ensemble can be gotten in a lanyard, keychain or dog collar! The gray color makes the wording pop out a great deal!

Karen Hafel from timetalentjewels says:

As I always look for interesting beads, I stumbled across this Dyed Gray Jasper Bead. There is always something about each stone as the colors come out. In this stone, I could see blue. Gray and blue, a fun potato chip spacer and some fire polish, just a fun necklace for the hot summer months! After all isn’t Gray the new Black?

Red, White And Blue – #EtsyCIJ 2018

Red, White and Blue are not only the colors used for patriotic holidays and flags, but are also used in a wide variety of other ways. We want to see all your Red, White and Blue items especially if they don’t have any patriotic meaning behind them. It really is more about the colors then anything.

Mairi from mairidesign states Red White & Blue Sea Glass Earrings. Little glass jars filled with, genuinely, rare mini sea glass gems, which hang from silver-tone ear wires. Blue and, especially, red sea glass is very rare making these very limited edition pieces of jewellery. Tree Of Life

Blog Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

When I think of a tree I think of something long-lasting,sturdy and ever-changing. The tree of life symbols are air, water, fire and earth and combine to create the life-giving power of the tree of life. The tree of life is said to have powers of healing, rejuvenation and sustenance.

What Tree of Life items do you have in your shop?

Rita from RitzySelection says the Tree of Life means foremost power. The first man-made objects made by nature’s treasures. Such is animal skin and wool. A Secret: The craftsmen, the ancient tribal culture, will continue to move into today’s urbanized, mechanized world. It is a tremendous treasure that we create day by day for the happiness of others! My advice is as follows: Let us plant a Tree of Life every day as much as possible!

il_570xN.1544311213_ebt1

Leather phone case

Sandra from SDDigitalDesign said family – the roots of the tree of life. The tree symbolizes generations of families which begins simply as a seed. The seed sprouts, grows and branches out all the while giving life to many generations to come. It is a visual metaphor representing your life and the various elements that make it up–past, present, and future.

Judy from JAMsCraftCloset states Tree of Life…Air to Breathe…Air to Sail…Air for Life…Without air, the colors of the world are gone. Air is needed for a beautiful life on earth.

Elisabeth from LizPOriginals says I love trees–the branches tend to go up –like prayer to heaven and charms with tree of life are reminders that life is precious.

Tree of Life bookmark

Nancy from EponasCrystals said the Tree of Life Earrings – We live in the country, so we have LOTS of trees. They are homes to numerous animals, provide shade and shelter, and are just magnificent to sit under! These earrings feature the tree of life symbol and are a luscious orange red color.

Mairi from mairidesign states a vibrant botanical illustration of a silhouette tree with colourful flowers and birds. The tree of life represents how we are connected to the world around us, as well as providing food, shelter and warmth for people, it is also a home for many animals and insects. With that, this pendant would make an ideal birthday gift, to mark the coming of age for teens and women who appreciate nature.

Tree of Life pendant necklace

Deborah from BaubleandaButterfly says the Tree of Life symbolism has a long history, crossing many cultures as universal symbol found in many spiritual traditions. The tree has always been a symbol of life, renewal and energy. It stands for many things, including wisdom, protection, strength, bounty, beauty, and redemption, symbolic of the Creator as it sustains creation with its abundant fruit, protection and regeneration. Turquoise is considered a stone of friendship. It absorbs negativity, promotes honest & clear communication from the heart & is an excellent grounding stone. Good for healing the spirit & soul and it is known as a master healer stone.

Tree of Life metal necklace

Marta from GottliebTextiles said the embroidery on these bags are a Latvian ethnic sign Austras koks (shortly: tree of life) embroidered on the front of the bag. Austras koks also called Saules koks, which means the dawn or sun tree, protects the family and gives strength and counsel. The roots of the tree are associated with the underworld, the middle – the earth on which people, animals and other living things exist. But the crown of the tree is connected to the spiritual heaven. Usually this tree is an oak and symbolizes the sun’s path and the order of the world.

Measuring Up

Blog Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

We think of being good enough or things meeting ones expectations when we think of measuring up to someone or something. For our purposes we want all of our items to measure up to 10 inches tall.

What items do you have in your shop that measure up to 10 inches tall?

Judy from JAMsCraftCloset says two of my passions are vintage items and green glass. With that said, these vintage green glass pasta canisters hit both my passions in one swoop…I had two sets of these canisters and am down to one. therefore, I believe someone else out there has my same two passions. Does anyone else love vintage green glass?

Sandra from SDDigitalDesign states this 8” x 10” digital print was inspired by all the fond memories I have climbing trees as a child. To me a tree symbolizes balance, strength and growth. I felt as tall and as beautiful as the tree itself. Although I’m not climbing trees these days I will continue to cherish those times when I did. I hope the tree in my design inspires you as it did for me.
