New Team Members August

Contributor post by Dawn from DeeDeeDeesigns

Join us in welcoming new members that joined the Etsy Christmas In July team during August …. visit their Etsy shops, favourite some items and maybe even share some on your social media!

Hi, just joined the team. Thank you for having me!

I am a crochet designer and recently quit my day job to focus on designing. My current favourite item in my shop – and it changes as each new design becomes my favourite! – is this shawl pattern.

I love it because it’s my favourite colour combination of mustard and blue and it’s perfect for this time of year. I’ve been wearing it a lot in the last couple of weeks.

Hi, my name is Natalia.

Here is my hand made earrings freshwater pearls teardrops wire wrapped in gorgeous ornate filigree sterling silver.

Mairi from mairidesign says

Hi, I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s work.

I design stained glass home decor and jewellery and have been preparing my Christmas decorations for the upcoming months.

Here is a set of three flat glass baubles to hang on the festive tree or in the window. I made them as presents for students last Christmas and immediately received another three bulk orders for office gifts and window garlands.

The glass has a really beautiful iridescence.

Welcome New Team Members!

Musical Introduction – #CIJParty 2017

Contributor post by Michelle of EviesToolEmporium

Good morning everyone! Once again this year we kick off our Etsy Christmas In July Party with a musical introduction! What is a party without music?

I would like to introduce you to The Choraleers Acappella Singing Group! They discovered our Christmas In July Party while searching the internet – it indeed is a small world! I invited Damon, the representative of group and the singers to join us!

The sextet was established over 35 years ago at Texas Southern University and performs Doo Wop, Gospel, Holiday and Motown hits. We have performed at private parties, weddings and at country clubs.

They are based out of Houston, Texas USA! Please contact Damon if you are in the area and are looking for performers!thechoraleersphoto

I also invited members of the Etsy Christmas In July team to share their Christmas Inspired musical items.

Heather Barber from MooseintheMint says:

This music pendant would be lovely for a young chorister or musician to wear in a Christmas concert, these are all completely unique.

I am always looking for unique items to add interest to my wreaths. I found this cherub angel with trumpet while on vacation. I loved the antique gold Old World feel of it. I created a wreath around it and love the peacock blue with the gold.

January – New Arrivals

Join the Christmas In July team as we celebrate January – New Arrivals.

Marjorie Scenna from mscenna says:

A new year and a new craft! I’ve been working with buttons and recycled jewelry bits for a long time and decided to play around with something new. I began to think of brides and weddings…”something old and something new”….here’s a combination of both!

Lia Russo from Ghirlandiamo says:

l have some very tiny wicker rings, so when l saw a doll house l thought a micro wreath could be a nice accessory!

l made this one thinking of Valentine’s Day, to add a romantic touch even to the doll house.

This miniature wreath may also be used for a diorama.

It’s completely handmade, as l personally made the clay hearts.

l left one of the hearts in its natural clay color, the other one l sprayed in red.

Either the two different colors and hearts position slightly remind the yin and yang idea. lt’s one-of-a-kind decor.

This is a new print onto my little glass hares featuring the night sky as can be seen in February in the northern hemisphere. It aligned itself so nicely to be printed onto my little shape, whilst still being accurate enough for a star-gazer!

Woolly Momo from WoollyMomo says:

I put this new item up today. I spent most of Christmas knitting (it was bliss!) and made this up at my In-Laws’ home. They really liked it and I hope you do too. Plus I got to use my new pom-pom maker (a present from my Hubs) to make the pom-pom!

I loved this wool because of the lovely black flecks that run all the way through it and so when it’s knit up, it gives a nice tweed effect (which the in-laws loved)!

It would make a nice gift to keep a loved one nice and warm and cosy and as it’s made with acrylic wool it’s also suitable for vegans too. It is a really thick and soft wool so it’s lovely to wear.

Dawn Whitehand from DeeDeeDeesigns says:

Guitar string jewellery has been one of my most popular items since I introduced them about the middle of last year.

My partner is a guitar player and so there are always lots of worn strings lying around, and I hated the idea of throwing them away, so started experimenting.

Here’s my latest addition to the range!

suzyq1981 from ClassyGlassandJewels says:

I buy gems from various etsy shops and make them into bolo ties. When my latest two gems arrived I couldn’t wait to get them ready for Valentine’s Day or Father’s Day. Colin Farrell wore a bolo tie in several episodes of True Detective, so what guy wouldn’t want to wear one?

How are you celebrating the arrival of 2016? Here are New Year items from members of the Christmas In July team.

Stock Lane Studio from StockLaneStudio says:

Hip Hip Hooray!

New Year’s Eve is all about a party: celebrating with lots of noise, drinking champagne, staying up to see the fireworks the ball drop in Times Square.

New Year’s Day is a nice meal with cherries jubilee for dessert. If I’m with my kids or relatives, we usually squeeze in some family movies and slide shows to reminisce.

When I received a new set of crochet hooks, I knew I wanted to make one pattern that I could use them all on, and so I decided on a cute star applique. I thought they’d make great appliques for Christmas hats and cards, but made in a sparkly thread or yarn, they are also great to decorate the table with for the New Years Eve Party!

Pinterest Gift Guides: Rose Gold And Sweater Parties

Contributor post by Michelle of EviesToolEmporium

The 2015 Etsy Holiday Merchandising Guide was released on October 6th, 2015.

The Christmas In July team turned the Holiday Merchandising Guide Into Pinterest Gift Guides.

Let’s enjoy the trends : Rose Gold and Sweater Parties.

Rose Gold

Sandy from TesoroDelSol says:

Most of my designs are inspired by ethnic styles derived by my travels to exotic places. I created a simple bangle from rose gold filled metal and gave it a subtle Moroccan look by forging this scroll pattern into it.

Annie from DesignedbyAnneliese says:

I have taken a slightly different twist to Rose Gold and have these rose punches that are gold in colour! I imagined these to be used as confetti at a wedding, wedding anniversary or engagement party!

Ina from InaSudjana says:

Oh I LOVE rose gold. It is the sweet and soft reddish tinge that makes it stand out as oppose to stark gold.

I use it in almost all of my items that have ‘gold’ in it… including this headband.

Sweater Parties

Arlene from ThisandThatCrafter says:

What is so special about this ornament is that a piece of a vintage sweater was given to me to use in a creation from a 92-year-old neighbor of mine. She was a seamstress for many years and is trying to find places for her items to go and be used instead of just being thrown away. She came from an era where you did not just throw away items… once an item was done being used in its original state you would reuse it in something else. She only had a small piece of the sweater left so this ornament is very limited. I am making one for her family and one for our family the rest will be for sale. Her piece of sweater will go on to bring many joy as they hang these unique and special snowmen on their trees.

Barbara from MermaidsHatbox says:

In the 90’s, when my husband and I went out for Christmas shopping in the city we traditional went also to the Christmas market, to a special restaurant and to the Laura Ashley store to look for winter warm sweaters.

The fashion of Laura Ashley was not really my style, but the sweaters are special. This was the only Ugly Christmas sweater in my collection.

Now I have only two of this collection. Those that I found the most beautiful and the ‘Ugly’ which I bought 1993. It was long, long ago that I wear this sweater, but I’m fascinated by the variety of knitting and embroidery every time I saw it.
