Lucky In Love

Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

Did you get lucky and find your significant other, soul mate or spouse? We all have our own word (s) for our second half, but what matters is how they make us feel. Some would say if we found our one, we were Lucky In Love!

What Lucky In Love items do you have in your shop?

Pam from PearlsVintagebyPam says as a child of divorced parents I always felt unlucky and rejected. But I got lucky. Met my husband as a freshman in college and got married as a sophomore. I have 2 children: 1 boy and 1 girl. That’s pretty lucky. I am featuring my plaster elephant bank with upward facing trunk for luck.

spoiledfelines1 from SpoiledFelinesArt said to be “lucky in love” and found one’s soul mate, many celebrate the date of their union with special gifts to their beloved. Wood represents the 5th anniversary, so I get a lot of custom orders to memorize that milestone. It’s an honor to create an item that marks such a special occasion!

Linda from LazyYVintage states that oh, yes. I ‘m lucky in love. I met Jim when we were 19 years old. We have been together for 40 years. He is corny and romantic and although it makes me roll my eyes sometimes; he makes me happy all the time. We have 6 kids, 4 in-law kids, and 13 grand babies. He has touched so many hearts (okay, now I’m being corny).

Stock Lane Studio from StockLaneStudio says I ~LOVE~ reading the sweet stories above, of romance that has endured! I do consider myself lucky. I know I’m lucky to have found my soul mate, but I also know that it is our patience and forgiveness and humor and adventurous spirit that has helped us take what we were given and make it last.

The printable art I’ve include includes a background of SLS’s original photograph of love padlocks attached to a bridge over the Seine River in Paris. I’ve strolled over that bridge many times with my honey, and eventually also with our children. The golden padlocks are no longer there (the weight of all that love was too much for the bridge and they had to be removed), so this photograph reminds me of how lucky I am to have found someone as magical as my husband!

Elisabeth from LizPOriginals said after having enough of MEN –I went on a special ski vacation with my girlfriend in Austria ( where I lived at the time and I am from ) and guess what –I met my husband on the last day at the hotel farewell party. @e have been married for 29 years and love each other like on day one, he gives me the cutest cards for all events of the year.

Betsy from Betsysbijoux stated I was lucky to have my soul mate with me for 38 years before he passed away Now in my 3rd year of new normal I am lucky to be moving into an artist’s commune filled with love. Sending this to wish all luck and a life filled with love.

Richard and Tatiana from DesignstheLimit says we are blessed to work and live the dream creating personalized gifts and living life to its fullest. When we started our Etsy shop, we did not know at the time that it would grow to allow us to ‘Quit Our Day Jobs’ and be able to spend time together and with our kids. Our cups run over and we have the wonderful community of buyers and sellers on Etsy to thank and want to say Thank You and Merry Christmas in July! The perfect gift for Weddings, Anniversary, Valentine’s Day, Birthdays, & Christmas in July! We have stemless champagne flutes, trumpet-shaped champagne flutes, and crystal flutes available in our shop with any combination of our available design and font combinations. Richard from RichMakes said I always feel lucky in Love! have been with my partner for 9 years now! we met in Soho London. He’s an Aussie so as Kylie says! his favourite artist naturally “It was Love at First Sight”

Patricia from TheOldBarnDoor states that I found my dear husband in a garbage pail!

We used to work at the same place although in different departments and on Fridays we did a 50/50 draw – you would write your name on a $2 bill and pop it into the draw bin (which was a garbage pail). I was the one selected to draw the winning bill and out popped the bill with his name on it. I had no idea who he was (he has a unique first name) so I set off to let him know he had won the prize that Friday. When I met, I realized I had found my prize. Married 36 years now I still have the bill I drew that day with his name on it.

Arlene from ThisandThatCrafter says Lucky In Love is loving someone so much that you love them to the moon and back… My children and my grandchildren are the one who I feel so much love for that I truly love them to the moon and back.

Kelly from ColourscapeStudios said I’ve been with my partner for 13 years now, and we just clicked from the first moment we met. We’d known each other online for a couple of years beforehand before meeting in the flesh, wishing I’d done it sooner now!

Personalized love story print

Dawn from DeeDeeSupplies states that I have been third time lucky in love for me!! Yes, third hubby, but it has been worth the wait – he’s a keeper!! Cooks, cleans, grows food – what more could a girl want?!

Blue ceramic hearts

Susan and Sharon from MsPDesignsUSA says even animals can be lucky in love! Cardinals choose a mate, and then stay together through the nesting season, and sometimes for several years. The male shows off his physical attributes, such as the markings on his face and bill, during mating season. He sings to his potential mate, and even brings her delicious morsels of food.

I met my husband in college. I wouldn’t say that it was love at first sight, but he got my attention then and he still has it after almost 35 years together. Like the cardinals, we take care of each other.

Pam from PamsPawsJewelry said well, I cannot say I was lucky in love but many people are!

Lovely stories here and love the Cardinal story of love! There are many animals who stay together for their whole lives, so sweet!

Many people give their mates or potential mates gifts to mark special occasions such as anniversaries, or on Valentine’s Day to show their love to their special person.

Many of these gifts have hearts in or on them as symbols of love too and here is a lovely handmade heart necklace which would be a great romantic gift!

Musical Introduction – #CIJParty 2017

Contributor post by Michelle of EviesToolEmporium

Good morning everyone! Once again this year we kick off our Etsy Christmas In July Party with a musical introduction! What is a party without music?

I would like to introduce you to The Choraleers Acappella Singing Group! They discovered our Christmas In July Party while searching the internet – it indeed is a small world! I invited Damon, the representative of group and the singers to join us!

The sextet was established over 35 years ago at Texas Southern University and performs Doo Wop, Gospel, Holiday and Motown hits. We have performed at private parties, weddings and at country clubs.

They are based out of Houston, Texas USA! Please contact Damon if you are in the area and are looking for performers!thechoraleersphoto

I also invited members of the Etsy Christmas In July team to share their Christmas Inspired musical items.

Heather Barber from MooseintheMint says:

This music pendant would be lovely for a young chorister or musician to wear in a Christmas concert, these are all completely unique.

Expressyourself with Jewelry from expressyourself says:

This Musical pendant is a great idea for the musicians and music-lovers as a Christmas gift.

JO from alustrousjewellery says:

These beautiful sterling silver musical notes would be great to wear while singing Christmas carols.

Gillian Haqqani from Gillisflowers says:

A number of items in my shop are made from old paper, including old sheet music. Here’s a Christmas themed example.

Arlene from ThisandThatCrafter says:

My music tree ornament is one of my best sellers… everyone seems to love this little music tree. The colors pop on your Christmas tree.

Erin Gille from GilleCelebrations says:

Musicians or guitarist will love receiving this bright red glass ornament. It is embellished with a handcut, glitter, black guitar.

willowvalleyvintage from WillowValleyVintage says:

My daughter and I love finding Gurley candles!

This sweet Choir Girl Candle is perfect for a music themed Christmas vignette!

Jeanne from TheSandlapperShop says:

This listing includes instructions on how to make a crocheted bell ornament. One of my favorite parts of Christmas is listening to hand bells and who can resist harness bells as horses dash across the snow pulling a sleigh?

Sheila from hollyhillwreaths says:

I am always looking for unique items to add interest to my wreaths. I found this cherub angel with trumpet while on vacation. I loved the antique gold Old World feel of it. I created a wreath around it and love the peacock blue with the gold.

Kelly from ColourscapeStudios says:

I loved Jingle Bells as a kid, and this tag brings a smile to my face, as I think “making spirits bright” is a wonderful thing to do during the holidays!

Cut It Out

Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

There are so many items that have cut outs in them, some by accident and some by design.

Holes in jeans, paper snowflakes and so much more.

Here at EtsyCIJ we want to see all your items that are cut out. Please tell us something about your item.

Linda from LazyYVintage says a beautiful find! A cutout pottery bowl. It is a signed pottery bowl with a cutout and etched design glazed a wonderful blue green on the inside of the bowl. The bowl would look lovely on a shelf, or as a coffee table bowl. I keep moving it around the house to see how it looks here and there…..just so pretty.

Brown cutout pottery bowl

Stock Lane Studio from StockLaneStudio said here are hand punched paper hearts. Great for scrap booking, table scatter or party confetti. This would make a great present for a language teacher.

In a previous life I was an English teacher and had the opportunity to teach students from all over the world. Although I encouraged everyone to speak English most of the time for the sake of learning, my Japanese English dictionary came in handy when talking to brand new struggling students or visiting parents. I used it a lot when traveling to Japan as well.

Scrapbooking hearts

Kelly from ColourscapeStudios states I created these tags for last year’s Etsy/Plan Australia Make For Good fundraiser, which had the theme of “Making brighter futures”. My idea was to use bright coloured card and featured little cutout hearts to bring colour and love to those less fortunate. Collectively, the Australian and New Zealand sellers involved raised over $38,000 together to help young women in Sri Lanka build a better life for themselves.

willowvalleyvintage from WillowValleyVintage says this is a unique vase in 3D carved relief.

I imagine the artist enjoyed creating this miniature scene inside.

Made in Japan in the 50’s or 60’s.

Marie-Antoinknit from 9ElizabethStreet said In knitting, we usually use a yarn-over (or yarn forward) to create holes & spaces. When done with very fine yarns, you get those ethereal cobweb shawls. When done with a thicker yarn, you get a lot more structure holding the “cut-outs” together – like this:

#EtsyCIJ Small Business Spotlight – ColourscapeStudios

Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

Small Business Spotlight – Kelly From ColourscapeStudios

 1. What made you start your small business?

I started my business because I didn’t find anything within the Australian marketplace creating what I wanted for my daughter’s nursery, and so my print’s business was born back in 2012. I moved into stationery in 2015 and haven’t looked back.

2.  What do you feel is your greatest obstacle facing your small business?

The biggest obstacle facing my business is the speed of growth I’ve had over the last year. It’s really taken off and I’m still finding my feet!

3. What is the greatest strength you personally bring to your small business?

My tenacity! I’m a stubborn, headstrong woman and once I start something I don’t give it up without a fight. I think part of that is making sure I deliver the absolute best product I can to my customers as well, if they’re happy then so am I!

4. What is your small business strategy? How have you set up your business in terms of goals, marketing, business planning, etc?

My strategy is to stay sustainable. I enjoy being a one woman show and so finding the balance in how much work I take on is key. I have several to-do lists running at any given time, covering all the basics like admin work, marketing and social media, and I sit down every 6 months to revise my business plan.

5. What social media sites do you interact on?

You’ll find me way too often on Instagram @colourscapestudios but I’m also on Facebook and Pinterest
