#CIJPopUpMarket #3 Shop – Lisa from Sparklejar

sparkklejar

1. What is the name of your shop and where do you look for inspiration?

The name of my shop is sparkklejar.

Inspiration comes in my desire to upcycle, recycle, repurpose and salvage items that people would normally throw out or find obsolete & not useful. I have a deep right brained desire to create something from something else. It seems we live in a throw-away society, It’s motivation and inspiration to make things that were once useful in their time, have a purpose again. I love color, i love to make big messes with paint, I love to salvage, I love metal rust glass & glitter. The fact my disastrous craft makes people happy is probably the best inspiration of all.

2. How has your shop evolved over time?

I’ve gotten a lot better at etsy in general, since i started in 2007. I now do an equal part hand made & vintage in one shop. I found a good balance and made it work over time. I am a lot braver now, and take risks on things like color and medium with some successes, some failures, and no regrets.

3. What do you love most about your work?

Working in my jammies.

4. What motivating music do you listen to? Share your playlist that gets and keeps you going!

This is really stupid, but totally true. I love music, but I need cathartic noise to create. The droning sound of a fan or blow drier.

5. What book are you reading right now and where is your favorite place to read?

I am actually starting to repurpose old canning booklets that are missing pages into envelopes. Ironically I am reading them instead.

#CIJPopUpMarket #3 Shop – Karen from timetalentjewels

timetalentjewels

1. What is the name of your shop and where do you look for inspiration?

The name of my shop in “timetalentjewels” and the name was inspired that I had the time, the talent and my creations were my jewels. My inspirations just flow within me as if they were God sent.

2. How has your shop evolved over time?

My shop has evolved overtime by hard work and inspiration of learning new techniques. My love of knitting and crocheting throughout the years have helped me in the shop. The Wire Crochet of the beaded Necklaces is very fascinating to me especially when shopping for the gemstones, what a treat! Knitting too has its specialties of hunting for the beautiful wool to make the right pair of hiking socks or knitting the wool hot pads and then felting them several times to get them to their proper shape.

3. What do you love most about your work?

What I love about my work is I can do it whenever I want as I am retired. When the shop needs something I can sit down and go to work on it. I don’t feel rushed. I do it when I feel it needs it. It is my hobby.

4. What motivating music do you listen to? Share your playlist that gets and keeps you going!

I love Country Music – Alan Jackson is my favorite “Livin On Love”, “Remember When”, “Good Time”, “She’s Got the Blues and I’ve Got the Rhythm”, “Jim and Jack and Hank”, Luke Bryan, “Kick Up The Dust” Blake Shelton “Honey Bee”, ”God Gave Me You”, ”The Boy’s Around Here”, George Strait “Amarillo by Morning”, Brad Paisley, “River Bank”, and all the popular ones on the radio. The recent Voice – second winner – Lauren Duski, “Ghost In My House” and “Déjà Vu”. Just too many to list and the list goes on! I never get tired of listening to this music. Just listen to it over and over again!

5. What book are you reading right now and where is your favorite place to read?

I am not much of a reader, I am more of a doer – I like to keep busy! Never could sit down and read.

#CIJPopUpMarket #3 Shop – EasyLifeInspirations from EasyLifeInspirations

EasyLifeInspirations

1. What is the name of your shop and where do you look for inspiration?

We are two sisters who created our shop: Easy Life Inspirations.

We let mother nature, baking, cooking and gardening inspire our artistic spirit. These areas of of our lives offer ideas for colors, scents and designs.

2. How has your shop evolved over time?

We have evolved exponentially since opening our shop in October 2015. We started out primarily with handcrafted soaps, some jewelry and a little bit of vintage. Vintage is no longer part of our shop. We love making soaps so much and soon found our passion evolving into all types of bath and beauty products. Soon we found ourselves wanting to improve our own dogs’ well being with our wonderful natural butters and oils so we expanded to a small line of pet grooming products. Then we thought why should we only focus on women and dogs when men have equal needs as well. So we created a small line of men’s grooming products as well. Next we added candles and a Wine Lover’s Section with all kinds of fun and lovely items.

3. What do you love most about your work?

Creating new product ideas and color and scent combinations. Taking ideas from what inspires us and turning it into a beautiful creations. A bonus is keeping my sister and I connected even though we live 1,000 miles apart.

4. What motivating music do you listen to? Share your playlist that gets and keeps you going!

We both love classic rock (especially Southern Rock) as well as country and newer music. Allman Brothers, Lynard Skyyard, Chris Stapelton, Counting Crows, Kongo, The Record Company, My very favorite Willie Nelson and Van Morrison.

5. What book are you reading right now and where is your favorite place to read?

Reading Stephen King right now. My favorite place to read is on the couch curled up with a blanket in the winter and on the deck in the summer.
