Make Your Dreams Come True Day

Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

Make Your Dreams Come True Day gives you the opportunity to do something to realize your goals and dreams. Whatever your dreams are, they usually don’t come true without some effort on your part. So, today is the perfect opportunity to do something about it.

Here at Christmas in July team we wanted to know what your dreams are, especially in relation to your business.

Traci Braithwaite from mytoffeeapple says:

I love to have my cushions in living rooms, cars/vans, restaurants, cafe shops, resorts, man caves, business, of all descriptions all over the world, custom-made for peoples desires and tastes.

Stock Lane Studio from StockLaneStudio states:

My business dream come true is really to be so busy selling on Etsy that I can’t handle it. My short-term goal, I guess that would be a cat nap dream, is to sell one item a day. . . or more, of course! I hope to accomplish that by reaching my target market and revealing more of my personality and creativity so that I stand out from other artists. I think this printable reflects that: if you want to reach your goals you have to work at it – be active, celebrate life and be yourself – that always works best for me.

Annie from DesignedbyAnneliese discussed:

My husband and I love to travel. It is harder to go overseas now with two young boys. We live in Australia in a spot where it never snows. It would be wonderful one day to go to the other side of the world and have a white Christmas! This card set is just that! Oh and I would love to build a snowman one day too.

Maha from MadeOnKailash stated:

My dream is to have long travel in South Asia. I admire India and already have been there for several times, that’s why my shop is named after great mountain Kailash. But my dream is to go there for a long time and also visit some neighbouring countries. And I always can take my micro macrame art with me and convert my impressions in new creations! Maybe one day I’ll have something which will be really made on Kailash in my shop!

Woolly Momo from WoollyMomo says:

My Etsy dream would be to sell more than the 31 items I sold last year. It’s really nice to see people wearing and enjoying the knits I’ve made and I’d love more of that feeling!

Gwen Jones from GwensHomemadeGifts said:

My dream for my Etsy shop is to build it up so that I’m actually making money (instead of spending more than I make) by the time I retire from my grown up job. Then I can retire, and step into my shop full-time and already be making some income. I love making gifts. I’m so tickled when people ask me to send a gift set directly to their recipient. I even include a handmade, and handwritten card for them free of charge!

Dreams often begin with a wish but only become reality when we take steps to work on them. That said, there is something magical about casting your dream into the wind and waiting for it to come back to you. When was the last time you made a wish with one of these?

My 5-year goal for my shop is to sell enough to get my own place again… a tiny house, a big fenced yard for my dog, and a chicken yard.. But it has to be somewhere close to town with public transit….yeah I know that is going to be hard to find but I’m very frugal so I don’t need much.

A wider goal for my shop is to increase public appreciation of chickens. They’re wonderful animals, and deserve to be treated that way!

1. What item in your shop drives your Etsy business and what makes it special?

Ceramic Tablewares

My Ceramic Tablewares drive my business on Etsy. My other items are also popular, however the tablewares are a unique product that draws the customer into the store. This is because all products are one of a kind and of a high quality. They are made with care and creativity, and the option to customise products with different surfaces and glazes is appealing to the consumer.
The fact that I emphasize sustainability in my packaging is also a concept that appeals to many people.

2. How would you like to see your business evolve?

Recently I reached a milestone of 100 sales, so of course I would love that to evolve to 200 sales. I would love to approach more magazines and lifestyle blogs for features to help grow and expand my Etsy profile and business.

3.How have your peers influenced your work?

My peers in both ceramic and jewellery design are very influential from a developmental perspective. I love looking at their work and learning new methods that help trigger new ideas. they also help to keep me motivated!

4. What business class(es) have you taken that have impacted your business?

I have completed a cert 4 in small business management which was great in setting up a business plan, setting goals and also learning about tax and the more ‘legal’ aspects of running a business.

I also participated in the Etsy Revolution course offered by Etsy earlier in the year, which was also great for learning specific things about things like SEO and product descriptions.

Recently I have enrolled in the new Etsy course Creative Courage Challenge, and am looking forward to participating.

5. Have you achieved Brand Awareness?

It is hard to say…. i think I have through my tablewares range – this is something feedback would be great for – am I recognizable?

6. What is one unique idea you came up with to market your business?

That is an interesting question, and I will have to think of something unique – but for now most of my marketing is via social media and networking.

1. What item in your shop drives your Etsy business and what makes it special?

Design’s the Limit specializes in custom designs and loves to create unique gifts for our customers. Of all of the different products we use as a canvas and the designs we have created over the years, we have a personal affinity for our Tooth Fairy Box. It was one of our original designs and has received a lot of favorites over the years to let us know our work is appreciated. We could not make a living from selling  toothboxes alone, but it is the most spiritually rewarding product in our shop.

2. How would you like to see your business evolve?

We are currently offering the Tooth Fairy box in the August “Go Shout Love” Auction to benefit two families. We encourage everyone to follow @goshoutlove on Instagram for more information and we are humbled to be

3.How have your peers influenced your work?

The most memorable toothbox order we ever completed was for a customer who requested that we include a hand written note with instructions and address the envelope to the child with the toothfairy in the return address location. We were worried that if anything happened it shipping that the package would not be able to be returned to us, but in the end the customer received the envelope and said her child was thrilled to have received it.

4. What business class(es) have you taken that have impacted your business?

We have recently joined the Hampton Roads Center of Commerce and been accredited by the Better Business Bureau of Virginia. What began as an interest and started as a project has grown into a full-time job.

5. Have you achieved Brand Awareness?

We have created a brand, an idea, and a name. When shopping at Design’s the Limit you can choose from our designs, submit your own, or we can create a custom design for any of your ideas. Imagination is always welcome and we appreciate the challenges of every custom order.

6. What is one unique idea you came up with to market your business?

It has been a busy summer for us as we were named the Best of Virginia Beach in the Specialty Gifts category for 2015, have had our products featured on the increasingly popular game app TapFoo and were featured in the Odyssey Online Etsy Father’s Day Gifts…
