Contributor post by Julie from EveryoneLovesGifts0

We at Etsy Christmas In July love to see pictures and know what is your Daily Inspiration? Why do you make the items you make? What gives you the inspiration to make it? Your inspiration can be anything that gives you the creative bug and we want to know.

Pam Colangelo from PearlsVintagebyPam says; Sunshine brings me happiness and inspiration. Unfortunately we don’t have a lot of sun in Syracuse. That’s why we spend time in Cape Cod. This is a happy plate! Sunshine and rainbows inspire me to push through life!

Sherri from ButterflyFeetDigital says; A lot of my inspiration comes from seeing color combinations while watching TV or leafing through a magazine. Sometimes a new color combination will stick in my head and I will start to see it more – in a commercial even, on the new! I don’t remember exactly where I first saw this color combo but I began to see it more and more, so I had to make a new paper pack.

Nancy Duncan from EponasCrystals says; Inspiration to wear! The word “Soul” in fancy script on a turquoise blue background is set under round glass domes. The glass dome magnifies the words underneath.

Dorota from YORNAMENTS says; My garden is my inspiration. It is not huge but it is VERY full. It is full of trees, evergreen shrubs, perennial plants, tall grasses and colorful flowers. The garden is full of rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels and of course birds. They are my favorite, as they sing beautifully and visit me often on my patio. I keep watching these birds from my kitchen window, while I wash the dishes. It is truly better then TV for me. It makes me really happy creating imaginary birds. I love when they come to life in my hands. I have so many bird ornament plans to create for my shop. Here is just the beginning – Birds Gift for Her`

Ornaments Woodland Christmas Decorations

Przemila K from CanisArtStudio says; Inspiration is very important to me. I’m a painter and a great lover of animals and nature. I have two beautiful English Setters and daily I walk with my dogs in the meadows. Sometimes I meet wild animals and it is a wonderful experience. I also love to ride a horse. Horses are my great love and that is why they are important for my creativity. Every day I bring to my house a new bouquet of wild flowers that I then sketch or paint on canvas. I also love watching how my dogs play. I have many friends who have dogs and sometimes I go to the dog shows to meet them and share our passion. It inspired me to paint their portraits and capture our pets. We would love to have them always with us …

Welcome April New Team Members

Contributor post by Dawn from DeeDeeDeesigns

Join us in welcoming new members that joined during April …. visit their Etsy shops, favourite some items and maybe even share some on social media!

Hi there,

We are a mother/daughter team that does various crafts. I’m Rita (the mom). I do most of the marketing/promotion stuff, quilted tote bags and purses, and quilting. Cindy (the daughter), does all the blogging, crocheting, woodwork, painting, and all the “high tech” stuff. We are still pretty new to this game, so any advice or help will be very much appreciated.

Multi colored crochet hobo bag

Hello! So glad to be joining this team and I can’t wait to work with you all!
I wish I could say my Etsy shop has a grand story behind it…but it was really a humble beginning (but sometimes aren’t those the best beginnings?). One day a few years ago my sister and I were crocheting and she spontaneously decided to help me start an Etsy store! It took a while to pick up speed, but now that it is steadily growing I couldn’t be happier to be part of this incredible Etsy community, making some money doing what I love. I have a blog where I post crochet patterns, and I sell some of my more advanced patterns, but my true passion is crocheting goods that my incredible customers can love and wear.
This pair of slippers is not only one of my best-selling items, but it has one of my favorite stories. I made this design because someone messaged me, asking if I could do a rush order of bow slippers in summery colors to give to her mom on Mother’s Day. Even though I had other projects at the time, I remember dropping everything to come up with this design and color scheme, and the result continues to be one of my favorite items in my shop. This story illustrates exactly what I love about Etsy – the real, personal interactions that can take place between sellers and customers. I like to think I played a part in blessing that dear mother whose daughter wanted to buy her slippers for Mother’s Day – and it is moments like these that make an Etsy shop rewarding.

Anne – Diane from LullabyQuiltsandMore says

Lullaby Quilts & more was created as a work of heart by college friends, Anne and Diane. We have been sharing our rag quilts with family, but wanted to include all of you in the fun!
Lullaby Quilts are handmade rag quilts designed especially for tots and toddlers. The quilts are constructed with three layers of flannel, sewn with the traditional X pattern, and then snipped and snipped and snipped. We machine wash and dry the quilts one time to initiate the ‘fuzzy’ ragging effect. New themes, colors, and patterns are incorporated into each project making each quilt a unique treasure.
Our young customers just love the snuggly softness of their Lullaby Quilts, which prompts them to become their ‘bed-time-buddies!’
We post new quilts designs often, so please check out our Etsy Shop & Facebook page frequently. Special orders are available upon request.
And what about the ‘& more’? We also love to embroider, monogram, and cross stitch, so look for bibs, burp cloths, placemats, dish towels, and golf towels.
Looking forward to getting to know you all!

We were working in tourism but I think you all know it’s a tough time for tourism in Turkey. So we lost our jobs and try to do something at home. This is how we met with Etsy family and you guys. This is how I open an Etsy Shop. You can see it is just a start but we are trying to learn. And Christmas in July Team is a good team to learn. I spend most of my time to read and learn more and so soon i d like to be more active team-mate. Best regards and here is the beautiful pink babynest that I made :

Lori Cain from KatsCurioCabinet says

My shop is Kat’s Curio Cabinet… named for my mother and filled with the items she, my step-dad, and my in-laws collectedthroughout their lives. As the curator of the beautiful and sometimes crazy items they chose save, I love Esty! The lifetime collection of four people does not fit in my house… through my Etsy shop these little treasures find new homes where they will be used and enjoyed. Beautiful things tucked away in boxes is such a shame. I enjoy sharing stories and have been fortunate to have wonderful customers which makes this a happy experience.Conservatively, it will take 3 years of sorting, researching, cataloging, and posting to get through all of the boxes.

I am sharing one of my more unusual items: A 3 dimensional gold outhouse charm. The door opens and inside is a man sitting on the pot reading with his pants around his ankles. The detail is amazing…and still it’s an outhouse! My step-dad loved to raise eyebrows, he bought it in Alaska in the 1950’s or 1960’s.

10K Gold Outhouse Charm

Hello from me. Looking forward to work with you. My shop is Gavriila. I make knitted jewelry, mostly one-of-a-kind pieces. I am sharing one of my latest products. This jewelry set I made as a custom request for necklace I have previously sold. It was impossible to make it the same once again since it was one only necklace, I came up with another idea, which arose two new necklaces, and in my opinion I made it even more beautiful than the previous one. But I came very late with the order so I decided to give it at very reduced price, and as a jewelry set, together with matching earrings and bracelets. Meanwhile customer changed his made and I decided to keep the same price. I would be very happy if someone likes at and wears it.

Thanks and see you!

What’s In Your Bag

Contributor post by Julie from EveryoneLovesGifts0

I don’t know about you but I love having a nosey in other people’s bags, I don’t know why but I have always found it interesting to see what people carry around with them.
So that being said for a chance to be featured in this blog post we at CIJ would love to see pictures and know what you carry in your bag.

* What do you class as your essential items and why?
* Why do you carry what you do?
* Do you carry anything sentimental in your bag?
* Do you carry something for good luck?
* Do you carry anything that is handmade?

Karen Hafel from timetalentjewels says; The bag itself is handmade and is sentimental because I made it with my own two hands. It is just the right size and best of all no one else has one like it. It is one-of-a-kind. It is felted wool with flower buttons. A fun purse to carry and have people say “where did you get that purse.”

One of a kind bag

Carola Bartz from CarolaBartz says; I always have a small journal or notebook and a pen in my bag. Whenever I find inspiration I can jot it down and work with that later. It can function as a sketchbook as well. I can write down phone numbers and email addresses, make notes about places I want to photograph etc. A journal never needs recharging and it never “freezes” or shuts down unexpectedly – and it’s smaller than some smart phones.

Journal

Stock Lane Studio’s from StockLaneStudio says; Yay its spring and I have officially removed the pair of hand knit gloves from my bag. So happy the weather is warming up. With that in mind, I always carry sunglasses and a bit of sun block in my bag. Snow can be blinding, so those essentials are in my bag even in the winter.
Believe it or not, I still carry real old-fashioned books. I like to read and feel this is giving my eyes a break from electronics.

I also carry a mini bag that can fold up to nothing and I can whip out when needed. Do not need anymore plastic bags!
I keep 2 zippered pouches in my bag, one for electronics and writing essentials and one for toiletries/cosmetics. What’s not in my bag: a comb or brush. Hmm, what does that say about me?

My sentimental items are the photos of my family in my wallet. And the bag itself. I’ve had it for 20 years and its been around the world with me. It’s really well made and I just love it.

Mini Bag – fold into nothing

Edna from AddaSplashofColour says; I cannot survive without my reading glasses so I always carry it in my glasses case. It is padded to protect the glasses and makes it easy to find.

Cindy Blakesiee from AllThatCraftyJazz says; This is a very large bag. Would be great as a weekender bag or just to carry all the stuff you need to go to the beach!
