Tell us about yourself.
Hello , My name is Elisabeth Perez and I am from Austria, Europe. I moved to the USA in 1988 after getting married to my husband who is from Miami, FL. I have 2 children and a hedgehog named Oliver.
I have always (even as a child) loved to do crafts with different mediums. Be it painting on stones found in rivers, playing with clay, painting on silk. But after visiting Florence Italy I fell in love with beads and have created jewelry & beaded home decor now for over 30 years.
When did you open your business and what made you decide to do so?
I opened my business on Etsy in 2015 after friends and customers told me about it.
Tell us a bit about your products.
I love designing sun catchers for homes, fun jewelry, Christmas decor and my newest item the agate wings for many causes.
The world has so many wonderful beads and charms to offer I just cannot stop using them in my designs. I am branching out with adding pet loss ornaments and Christmas decor for pet owners.
What inspires your work?
Color and textures all around me. Be it in nature or other artists work, like quilts or photography.
What are your future goals for the business this year? What is your dream for this business?
I really hope to grow my online business and hope to be seen by more shoppers.
What makes your business stand out from businesses that sell similar products?
I think it’s the way I use beads and unique components and my personal touch with my add-on gift bags. I want them to be as unique and not mass made as possible.
Tell us a bit about your work space. Do you have a separate studio?
After my oldest son moved out I reclaimed his room for my work yet again. I have a wonderful couch and table that I use as my shipping station. I have a desk to bead and a shelf to store all the items listed on Etsy. And another table and chair in my living room by a window to take my pictures.
What have you learned since opening your business that you wish you had known before hand?
I think is the knowledge that online selling is so different from in person and direct sales. Pictures matter the most in attracting customers.
Any advice for those thinking about selling on Etsy?
Do your homework !! As in make sure the market in what you like to sell is not totally over saturated and then rethink what you like to make that will bring a fresh approach to that product. Also awesome pictures and great descriptions.
When you’re not working, what do you like to do to unwind and have fun? Do you have any hobbies?
I love to read and see Korean movies on drama fever, travelling, spending time with family, cooking and baking.
What is your favorite quote?
“Who will guard the guards?”
