Tell us about yourself.
I am Julie, the Founder and Jewellery Designer of EveryoneLovesGifts0.
I have always been creative but never found my real passion until I started with making jewellery, after that I was hooked.
I love that you can create all different styled pieces that are unique to the customer and myself. I personally think you can not compare a handmade piece of jewellery to what you can find on the highstreet.
I am a mother to a very active eight year old, who keeps me on me toes, a wife and housewife.
When did you open your business and what make you decide to do so?
The idea for my jewellery business started when I had my daughter. I went through a lot of trauma, different operations and recovering over the years as she was growing up. It was and still is difficult.
Because of all the trauma I received I developed Fibromyalgia, which is classed as wide spread pain, which required a great deal of mediations for the rest of my life. This was finally diagnosed one New Years Eve that saw me being admitted to hospital at 12am. I stayed there for three weeks while they tried to control my pain.
As well as Fibromyalgia I also have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The two combined can wipe me out a lot of the time but I have had to learn to pace myself.
Even though I have a business, busy with family life I try not to let my conditions define me or my business.
Tell us a bit about your products.
Due to my conditions I made a range of Fibromyalgia jewellery with a percentage going to a charity called FMAUK.org. This charity concentrates on research and development in Fibromyalgia in the UK, which is greatly needed.
I love to make Fibromyalgia jewellery as well as other awareness conditions that are associated with it.
As well as Fibromyalgia I like to make other awareness jewellery as I believe it is important to keep the awareness going for different illness as not all are recognised.
I have a passion for pearls, I love that you can make different pieces of jewellery with pearls yet the jewellery that is designed all has its own uniqueness. At the moment I work with glass pearls, in the future I want to expand into freshwater pearls.
As well as pearls I love working with resin, you can make so much different pieces that each and everyone is unique.
What inspires your work?
I like to look into new jewellery trends coming up, I love seeing all the different colours. However this does not always inspire into what I thought I would make. I can have an idea in my mind of what I am going to make yet the piece ends up looking different and sometimes better.
Life in general inspires me but the biggest one is my customers. I like to build a relationship with each customer I have, they are not a number to me, they are a person with a story. I like to have a ‘friendship’ approach to my customers. With a handmade business I feel this is important. Within the highstreet for buying from bigger business customers don’t get to see the ‘friendship’ side so I feel this inspired me more than anything.
What are your future goals for the business this year? What is your dream for this business?
Dreams for any business is great but I am more of a goal person, when you have a goal you are more likely to achieve it.
I like to bring new editions to my jewellery line with new materials.
Communication with my customers has always been a priority to me, bring the friendliness into buying and making the process easy that brings my customers back for more.
A milestone I would like to achieve next is 100 sales!
What makes your business stand out from businesses that sell similar products?
With handmade business everyone has a reason why they stand out, which makes every business unique.
With EveryoneLovesGifts I believe I stand out due to my illness (Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue), I can relate to my customers with the same illness. This started my awareness range as people have different illness and daily struggles. If they can wear a piece of jewellery that helps to promote a particular awareness I feel this is priceless.
With my other pieces of jewellery I stand out with the range I have, I love to work with pearls, they are so versatile for all ages. Resin and other materials.
Tell us a bit about your work space. Do you have a separate studio?
My studio happens to be my bedroom floor. Not pretty or unique to look at but it is place for me at the moment. I would love to have my own workspace in the future where I can retreat. I also love to work in my conservatory. Opening up all the blinds, seeing the outside world through the glass is inspiring in itself.
What have you learned since opening your business that you wish you had known before hand?
knew selling a piece of jewellery and having a customer say how much they love it and wear it all the time would make me feel. Yet I did not know how happy this would actually make me feel. It really brings a warm glow to my heart that I have made someone else happy with a piece that I have made.
The other is to be patient, nothing happens without hard work and keeping your goal in sight. I believe if you lose sight of your goal you can go off track.
Any advice for those thinking about selling on Etsy?
Don’t give up on your dream or goals. If you put in the work, enjoy what you do anything is possible.
Selling is rewarding in every way, if you feel like giving up, don’t as your goal is closer than you think.
When you’re not working, what do you like to do to unwind and have fun? Do you have any hobbies?
I love to read, I have a range of books in different genes. Although I cannot read as much as I would like due to Chronic Fatigue, when I do I find you can relax into a book and shut out the world for a bit.
I also love to watch movies with my daughter, the cuddles while watching a film is priceless.
What is your favorite quote?
If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.

Don’t let others ruine your dreams/goals. We are all different with different goals, they’re goals are not yours.
