Sapphire Shine

Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

The birthstone for September babies and the second hardest substance on earth. Blue is the most traditional color of Sapphires, but there are other varieties of colors. Sapphire is said to symbolize truth, sincerity and loyalty.

Here at Christmas in July we want to know what do you have in your shop that is Sapphire?

Lisajoy Sachs from saxdsign says as a gem dealer, and jeweler on Etsy I get to see a lot of sapphires.
This ring is one of my favorite styles! It has a timeless modern design, but also feels like something that you may find in a treasure in a roman dig somewhere.

Early folklore has said that the wearer of a yellow sapphire will have better financial stability, name, fame, wealth and good health. In ancient times the gift of a sapphire was a promise of honesty, loyalty, purity and trust. Today the sapphire is one of the most popular engagement gemstones.

There are also sapphires that change color, they actually change color in different light. These sapphires are more rare, and unusual.

Natural Sapphires can be found in many parts of the world like: Afghanistan, Australia, Myanmar/Burma, Cambodia, China, Colombia, India, Kenya, Laos, Madagascar, Malawi, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Thailand, United States, and Vietnam.

Sapphires can also be created in a laboratory. Since it is such a hard material it is used in lasers, watch faces, and other applications. Synthetic sapphire is identical to natural sapphire, except it usually has less flaws and inclusions that are commonly found in natural stones.

Sapphire Ruby Ring

Melissa R from missy69 said my item is a midnight sapphire, with one point diamond, wire wrapped pinky ring. The story behind this ring is kind of fun. This is actually a broken pendant/necklace that was part of a bridal party gift many years ago. Since I could not fix the pendant, I decided to try a different wire wrap technique, and found it works quite well. So, this is technically an upcycled broken piece of jewelry, into something new and beautiful. It is a size 4, so a perfect pinky ring size, or if you have a size 4 finger. I have a 4 1/2 ring finger size, so just a hair too small for me. This is a very unique and beautiful gift idea.

Valerie Brown from FirepanJewellery says I paired a lab grown Sapphire with Amazonite in this ring, just because I like the color combination! Lab grown sapphires (which still are ‘real’ gemstones) are an affordable way to incorporate beautiful gems into your jewellery collection!

I love sapphires and have many in my gem collection, in the wide range of colors as Lisajoy described. I’ve always had an affinity for them since they are my birthstone!
