1. Please introduce yourself! What is the name of your shop? What city and country do you live in?
We are Sharon and Lorraine Pitman of Holistichem. We are sisters and make our own range of jewellery. We live in Erskine which is just outside Glasgow in Scotland, UK.
2. Tell us the story of your work – what inspires you?
As holistic therapists specialising in wellbeing and with a background in design, we have used our passion for creativity and wellbeing to create a range of wellbeing-inspired jewellery using quality semi-precious gemstones. Having co-founded Holistichem, we launched our Etsy shop in 2014. We are inspired by natural gemstones and their individual colours and incorporate these into our work.
3. What is your creative process?
Our creative process is always influenced by natural semi-precious gemstones. We take inspiration from colours and bead shapes. Our process can vary with each piece we make. Sometimes we will work with the gemstone and create something around its natural beauty. At other times, we may have a specific idea for a style and work around this using different types of beads and colours.
4. Where do your materials come from?
We always ensure that we use authentic semi-precious gemstones in our creations. We source our beads from a reliable supplier based in the UK that sells high-quality semi-precious gemstone beads. Where possible, we also use findings that are lead, nickel and cadium-free.
5. Do you take custom orders?
We are always happy to provide custom orders and enjoy making bespoke pieces of jewellery. We can create custom-made beaded jewellery using a variety of semi-precious gemstones, bead type, sizes and colours. On request, we can provide small-scale wholesale orders and are also able to make party/wedding favours and thank you gifts for wedding party members, etc.
6. What do you want us to know about you that is unique and innovative?
Due to the unique nature of the gemstone beads we use, each jewellery piece is one of a kind. We use quality semi-precious gemstones, which as well as looking lovely, are also thought to have a wellbeing effect. We include a hand-written card with all of our jewellery stating the wellbeing meaning of each stone.
