Mother’s Day

Contributor post by Alicia from AliciasFindings

Mother’s Day celebrates motherhood and it is a time to appreciate mothers and mother figures. Many people give gifts, cards, flowers or other treats to their mother and mother figures, including grandmothers, great-grandmothers, stepmothers, and foster mothers.

At Christmas in July we want to know how you celebrate your mother (or how do people celebrate your day)?

Carola Bartz from CarolaBartz  says when my Mom was still alive I used to send her a card with a letter and I called her on Mother’s Day (she lived on a different continent than I do). I still miss our conversations which were always very long, and Mother’s Day is always a reminder what I have lost almost ten years ago. Even though she lived far away, we were very close.

Today I am the mother in the family and it really is my day. Usually we go somewhere I want to go to, and most years I just want to go up the coast to a little town called Mendocino. I love this place, and May is the perfect time to visit it. The drive back is always along California Highway 1 which is one of my favorite roads. This day always feels like a short vacation and the entire family loves it. Doing something together is the best part of it.

Annie from DesignedbyAnneliese discussed that I am a mother of 2 lovely young boys which I am very thankful for. In any spare time I absolutely love reading a good book! I have a pile of books in my room waiting for me to read.
I decided to make these lovely Japanese cherry blossom bookmarks which I think would make a lovely present for any mum who loves reading!

Unique bookmarks

Lia Russo from Ghirlandiamo says in Italy we are used to celebrate Mother’s Day as in the most part of the world: giving her flowers or a gift and, if possible, having lunch and passing the day together.

In Ghirlandiamo’s shop there are a lot of items people could choose as gift for their mom, even looking for her preferred flowers on a wreath or other kind of home decor.

This spring l created a special wreath dedicated to Mother’s Day: this wicker heart covered by cheery and fresh daffodils.

Love to all moms in the world!
