Let’s travel to Australia – Brisbane, Queensland with Kelly from ColourscapeStudios
1. What city do you live in? What makes it special?
I live just north of Brisbane, Queensland in Australia. We’re known as the sunshine state here, gorgeous weather pretty much all year ’round! Last week I was able to take the family out for ice cream at the beach in winter!
2. What are several places everyone visiting your country should see?
One for each state here:
Queensland; The Whitsundays, especially Whitehaven Beach.. the most pure and beautiful beach I have ever seen in my life.
New South Wales: Head to The Blue Mountains, amazing and breathtaking.
Australian Capital Territory: Time your visit in September and head to Floriade, the flower show.
Victoria: Drive the Great Ocean Road… it really is spectacular!
South Australia: Find some hidden gems in Barossa Valley, home to some of the best wines in the country!
Tasmania: A must see, Cradle Mountain/Lake St Clair. Mind blowing!
Western Australia: Head North and explore the Outback in the Bungle Bungle’s, or Karijini National Park.
Northern Territory: Uluru (previously known as Ayers Rock). A giant rock in the middle of nowhere. A sacred site to the Indigenous people of this land.
3. How have the customs, traditions, geography, nature etc. inspired the items you create?
Nature and the countries geography has always played a big part in my shop. My photography reflects this, nothing better than getting out and exploring our slice of the world. It’s a great place to be inspired for my typography range as well. You can’t be angry when you’re looking across a mountain range, or watching a river run to the sea.
4. What are you doing this fall to drive your business in your community? Are you doing a festival or show? How do you reach out to your community?
Well it’s Spring for us soon, and it’s the start of the Christmas shopping season! I attend one of our local markets, Handmade Redcliffe every month and will be doing so until the end of the year. I’m a massive supporter of the “shop small, shop local” movement and try not to buy from large multinationals as much as I can.
5. What are your social media sites?
